[A/N: This was when they first started dating.]

Prompt: Marjorie waking Reece up with a kiss.

The night had settled in quietly, the soft hum of the world outside the window barely filtering into the room. Marjorie lay beside Reece, her head resting on the pillow, the warmth of his presence beside her both comforting and new. They had never shared a bed like this before—not in a way that felt like something more. There had been moments in their friendship that had hinted at this, but tonight, everything felt different. Everything felt real.

Reece was asleep, his breathing steady and calm, his face relaxed in a way that made Marjorie's heart swell. She had always known him as the one who liked to keep things light, someone who rarely showed vulnerability. But tonight, he was just... there. So present. She watched him for a moment, studying the gentle rise and fall of his chest, the way his hair, still a little messy from their earlier conversation, brushed against his forehead.

A smile tugged at her lips, soft and warm. Marjorie reached out, her fingers brushing the back of his hand, and for a moment, she just held it there, savoring the quiet connection they shared.

The clock ticked quietly in the background, marking the passing of time, but Marjorie didn't mind. She didn't want to rush this moment. Slowly, carefully, she shifted closer, leaning in just enough to press a soft kiss to his cheek. She pulled away, her heart fluttering in her chest, feeling a little shy despite how natural everything felt. The kiss was innocent, sweet—nothing more, but it meant everything.

And then, without realizing it, she found herself gazing at him once more, her thumb gently tracing the line of his jaw. The tenderness of it all made her heart ache with affection.

After a few moments, Reece stirred. His eyes blinked open, and the soft light from the window filtered over his features, casting a glow across his face. At first, he seemed confused, disoriented, but as his eyes focused on Marjorie, his expression softened.

"Hey," he mumbled sleepily, his voice hoarse from just waking up.

Marjorie smiled, her heart fluttering in her chest at the sight of him waking up so peacefully beside her. She leaned down again, this time pressing a more deliberate kiss to his lips, soft and lingering. A slow, gentle thing, meant only to let him know how she felt—how much this moment meant to her.

Reece kissed her back, his lips warm and slightly surprised, but the tenderness in the kiss was undeniable. His hand found its way to her waist, pulling her closer in that sleepy, comfortable way people did when they didn't want to let go of the warmth of another person.

"Good morning, gorgeous," he whispered, his voice still thick with sleep but laced with something more, something deeper than just the remnants of the night.

Marjorie smiled against his lips, the nickname stirring something inside her. "Good morning," she whispered back, her smile widening. She could feel the weight of the connection between them, how natural it all felt.

For a moment, they just held each other, letting the quietness of the room embrace them. No words needed to be said. Just the simple fact that they were here, together—alive and present in the space they'd carved out for each other.

And as the morning light slowly began to creep in, Marjorie couldn't help but smile again. Maybe things didn't have to be perfect. Maybe the love they had would come with its ups and downs, but for now, in this moment, they were together—and that was all that mattered.

[A/N: Exams took a fuck ton out of me, so no multiple updates tonight, just this and the last chapter of Adopted. Maybe tomorrow I can pick up this shit again. :)]
