Prompt: Reece and Marjorie spend a quiet morning together.

The early morning sun streamed through the windows, casting a golden glow over the living room. Reece sat on the couch, his blond hair still damp from his shower, a steaming cup of tea in his hands. The quiet hum of the coffee machine in the kitchen blended with the occasional chirping of birds outside. It was a rare moment of calm in their usually chaotic lives, and he intended to savor every second of it.

“Good morning, my darling!” Marjorie’s cheerful voice rang out as she entered the room, her hair tied back in a loose braid. She wore one of Reece’s oversized shirts, paired with fluffy socks that made her steps silent on the hardwood floor.

Reece looked up, his face instantly lighting up. “Morning, gorgeous. You’re looking radiant as ever.”

Marjorie rolled her eyes but smiled as she plopped down next to him, curling up against his side. “Flattery before breakfast? You must want something.”

“Only your company,” he replied, pressing a kiss to her temple. “And perhaps a bite of whatever pastries you’ve inevitably smuggled into the house.”

Marjorie grinned mischievously, reaching behind her to produce a small paper bag. “Guilty as charged. I might have stopped by the bakery on my way back from my walk.”

Reece gasped in mock offense. “And you didn’t wake me? Unforgivable.”

“Relax, Mr. Piranha. I got your favorite,” she said, pulling out a buttery croissant and handing it to him.

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the only sounds being the soft crunch of pastries and the distant murmur of traffic outside.

After finishing his tea, Reece set the cup down and turned to Marjorie. “You know, mornings like this remind me how lucky I am.”

She raised an eyebrow, brushing crumbs off her shirt. “Oh? And why’s that?”

“Because I get to wake up next to the most wonderful person in the world,” he said sincerely, his blue eyes meeting hers.

Marjorie’s cheeks flushed pink, and she swatted his arm lightly. “You’re too sweet for your own good.”

“Only because you inspire it,” he teased, pulling her closer.

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other and the quiet joy of the morning. Eventually, Marjorie shifted, her eyes sparkling with an idea.

“Dance with me,” she said suddenly, standing up and extending a hand.

“Gorgeous, there’s no music,” Reece said, though he was already taking her hand.

She shrugged, pulling him to his feet. “We don’t need it.”

As they swayed in the middle of the living room, the sunlight streaming around them, Reece couldn’t help but laugh. “You know, if someone walked in right now, they’d think we were ridiculous.”

“Let them,” Marjorie said, her voice soft. “I have everything I need right here.”

Reece kissed her, slow and tender, their laughter fading into quiet contentment. For them, happiness was found in the simplest moments, and they wouldn’t have had it any other way.
