Prompt: Charlotte is listening to "All You Wanna Do" from SIX The Musical and Mia sings along to the song with a little too much emotion.

The melody of "All You Wanna Do" from SIX The Musical filled the kitchen as Charlotte hummed along, chopping vegetables with practiced ease. Her voice was soft, a quiet harmony to the recorded track, until Mia’s voice joined in—louder, rawer, and dripping with unexpected intensity.

“All you wanna do, all you wanna do, baby…”

Mia’s voice cracked slightly, but she pressed on, singing the words with an edge that made Charlotte pause. She glanced at Mia, who was focused on slicing vegetables with a precision that bordered on aggressive.

The chorus swelled, and Mia’s movements grew sharper, her grip on the knife tightening. Charlotte frowned as she set down her own knife.

“Mia,” she said gently, stepping closer. “Are you okay?”

Mia flinched, her singing cutting off abruptly. She didn’t look up, instead focusing intently on the peppers she was slicing. “I’m fine,” she muttered.

Charlotte wasn’t convinced. “You’ve been cutting that same pepper for five minutes,” she said, reaching out to hold Mia’s hand. “What’s going on?”

Mia let out a sharp exhale, shaking her head. “It’s nothing, Char. Just… the song. It’s stuck in my head.”

Charlotte studied her, noting the way Mia avoided her gaze. She could see something was weighing on her, but she decided not to push. “Okay,” she said softly, her hand lingering on Mia’s for a moment before stepping back.

The evening passed quietly, with Mia regaining her composure and dinner proceeding as usual. But Charlotte couldn’t shake the tension she’d felt radiating from her girlfriend earlier.

Later that night, they lay in bed, the room dimly lit by the soft glow of the bedside lamp. Charlotte turned on her side to face Mia, who was staring at the ceiling, her expression unreadable.

“Mia?” Charlotte’s voice was barely above a whisper.

“Hm?”

“About earlier… when we were in the kitchen.”

Mia sighed, her hand rubbing at her face. “Char, I thought we were dropping it.”

Charlotte hesitated but pressed on. “I know, but you seemed… I don’t know. Upset. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”

Mia turned her head to look at her, her eyes dark and conflicted. For a moment, she was silent, as if weighing her words.

“If I tell you,” Mia said quietly, “will you let it go?”

Charlotte nodded. “I promise.”

Mia sat up slightly, her hands clasped together as she stared down at them. “The song… it just hits a little too close to home.” Her voice was steady but tinged with a vulnerability that made Charlotte’s heart ache.

Charlotte moved closer, reaching out to rest a hand on Mia’s arm. “What do you mean?”

Mia swallowed hard, glancing at Charlotte briefly before looking away. “It’s about someone being used, Char. Being made to feel like all they’re good for is what someone else wants from them.” Her voice wavered slightly, and she cleared her throat. “That was me. For a long time.”

Charlotte’s breath hitched, her chest tightening at the pain in Mia’s voice. She didn’t need more details to understand how deep this wound ran.

“Mia…” she whispered, her heart breaking for her wife.

“It’s fine,” Mia said quickly, though her voice betrayed her. “It’s not who I am anymore. I’m stronger now. I have you.” She finally looked at Charlotte, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

Charlotte sat up fully, wrapping her arms around Mia and holding her close. “You’re more than strong, Mia,” she said firmly. “You’re brave, and kind, and you deserve so much better than what you went through.”

Mia let out a shaky breath, her head resting against Charlotte’s shoulder. “You always know what to say, don’t you?”

Charlotte smiled softly, pressing a kiss to Mia’s temple. “Only because I love you.”

Mia chuckled weakly, her arms wrapping around Charlotte in return. “I love you too.”

They stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, the weight of Mia’s confession hanging in the air but somehow feeling a little lighter with Charlotte there to share it.

And when they finally lay back down, Charlotte whispered one last thing:

“You’re safe now, Mia. With me, you’re always safe.”

Mia didn’t respond, but the way she held onto Charlotte said more than words ever could.
