Some Days Later
I held Onika's hand as we made our way into the five-star restaurant. The past few days had been a whirlwind for both of us, and I wanted tonight to be special.
Her divorce with Kevin had been heavy, but it was finally settled. She was free, and that alone felt like a new chapter for both of us.
I kept my focus on her as we walked, her presence always commanding attention. She looked absolutely stunning, dressed in a sleek black dress that hugged her curves perfectly. Her hair fell gracefully around her shoulders, to her back, and there was a natural glow about her that had nothing to do with the lights around us.
She was stunning.
"You look so good, mama," I whispered in her ear, my voice low and filled with admiration.
She glanced up at me with a soft smile, her eyes lighting up. "Thank you, Aubrey," she replied, squeezing my hand. "You look good too."
I couldn't help but pull her a little closer, we had security surrounding us, making sure no one could get too close or see us as we moved past the crowd into the building.
I had rented out the rooftop just for the two of us, a private spot with a view of the city skyline. It was a surprise I had been planning since I got back to NewYork.
