Is she breathing?" Mrs. Liah asked.
Ruhan pressed his ear to Ruhi's chest, relief washing over him when he heard the faint sound of her heartbeat. "She's alive," he whispered, his voice filled with a mix of fear and determination.
"We need to get her out of here," Mrs. Liah said urgently, helping Ruhan lift Ruhi out of the coffin and onto the ground. Ruhan cradled her close, his heart pounding with gratitude and terror as he whispered, "You're safe now, Ruhi. I won't let anything happen to you."
Ruhan's hands trembled as he gently laid Ruhi down on the hospital stretcher. His eyes darted toward the doctor, his voice cracking with desperation. "Please, save her. Do whatever it takes-just save her."
The doctor gave a firm nod, quickly instructing the medical staff to take Ruhi into the emergency room. Ruhan stood frozen outside the door, his mind racing with fear and guilt. Through the small glass window on the door, he could see the doctors working frantically, performing CPR on Ruhi.
"Come on, Ruhi," he whispered, his hands clenched into fists. "Fight back... you have to fight."
Inside the room, the doctors continued their efforts, their voices urgent. "Still no response," one of them said after the second round of CPR.
Ruhan's heart sank. He felt like the world was slipping away from him. His eyes burned with tears he refused to let fall, and his lips moved in a silent prayer.
"Please," he murmured, gripping the doorframe. "Please don't leave me, Ruhi."
As the third attempt of CPR began, the heart monitor beeped faintly. A slow but steady rhythm appeared on the screen.
"She's back!" one of the doctors exclaimed. The team immediately shifted gears, stabilizing Ruhi and placing her under careful observation.
Ruhan let out a shaky breath, relief washing over him as he watched the team work tirelessly to ensure Ruhi's condition improved.
A few minutes later, the lead doctor stepped out of the room. Ruhan rushed to him, his voice hoarse. "Is she... is she okay?"
The doctor studied him for a moment before asking, "Are you her family member?"
"Yes," Ruhan replied without hesitation. "I'm her husband."
The doctor's expression softened. "It's nothing short of a miracle that your wife is breathing again. Her pulse had stopped for a while, but she's stable now. However, her condition remains critical. It might take 4-5 hours for her to regain consciousness."
Ruhan's shoulders sagged with relief as the doctor continued, "You can visit her once she wakes up, but for now, we need to keep her under close observation."
"Thank you," Ruhan said, his voice thick with emotion. He leaned against the wall, running a hand through his hair as he tried to steady himself.
He turned his gaze back to the door, where Ruhi lay, her fragile form surrounded by machines keeping her alive. "You're strong, Ruhi," he whispered to himself. "And I'll be right here, waiting for you."
---
Ruhan paced nervously outside Ruhi's hospital room, his heart hammering in his chest. Three hours had passed since she fainted, and every minute felt like an eternity. He clenched his fists, his thoughts spiraling with fear. What had happened to her? Was she hurt? Why wasn't she waking up?
The sound of hurried footsteps pulled him from his thoughts. A nurse came out of Ruhi's room, a look of relief on her face.
"She's regained consciousness," the nurse informed him before disappearing down the hallway to call the doctor.
