The house was wrapped in silence, save for the rhythmic ticking of the clock in the hallway.
Ruhan lay beside Ruhi, his thoughts tangled in the conversation they'd had earlier. As much as he tried to push the lingering unease aside, her straightforward words echoed in his mind: "I don't need anybody. I can help myself and anyone also."

Ruhi lay next to him, her gaze fixed on the ceiling, lost in her own world of thoughts. Minutes passed, and slowly her breathing steadied. She had fallen asleep, her face serene in the dim moonlight.

---

The first rays of sunlight streamed through the sheer curtains, illuminating the room in a golden glow. Ruhan stirred awake, blinking against the warm light. He turned his head and found Ruhi still asleep beside him.

Her face was calm, framed by her soft hair that spilled across the pillow. The sunlight danced on her skin, making her seem almost ethereal. He couldn't help but move closer, captivated by her peaceful expression.

As he leaned in, his fingers reached out to gently play with a lock of her hair. He twirled it between his fingers, a rare softness crossing his face. His gaze dropped to her slightly parted lips, their delicate pink hue drawing him in. He lightly brushed his finger across them, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

The quiet moment shattered with the abrupt ringing of his phone. Ruhan stiffened, annoyed at the interruption. He grabbed the phone from the bedside table and answered, his voice low.

"What is it, Elijah?"

"Do you remember what day it is today?" came the familiar voice.

Ruhan frowned, then quickly glanced at the date on his phone. A wave of realization and frustration washed over him. "I just remembered," he muttered.

"Don't worry," Elijah replied. "We're already here. Just come."

Ruhan nodded, ending the call. He sat up, glancing at Ruhi, who had stirred awake from the commotion.

"Get ready quickly," he told her, his tone brisk.

Ruhi blinked, still drowsy. "For what? Where are we going?"

Ruhan didn't respond, instead grabbing clothes and heading to the washroom in a hurry. Ruhi frowned but got out of bed, deciding not to press further. After taking a bath, she dressed and waited for him.

Soon, Ruhan emerged, his face a mix of focus and something she couldn't quite place. He motioned for her to follow, and they headed out.

The drive was quiet. Ruhi sat beside Ruhan, watching him out of the corner of her eye. His jaw was set, his grip firm on the steering wheel. There was a weight in the air, one she couldn't understand.

Midway, Ruhan stopped at a flower shop. He returned with a bouquet of beautiful tulips, their vibrant colors a stark contrast to his somber mood.

Ruhi glanced at the flowers, confused. "What's going on, Ruhan?" she asked softly.

But he said nothing, his silence only deepening her curiosity.

A while later, they arrived at the main cemetery. The towering gates stood as a reminder of lives gone by, and the stillness of the place added to its solemnity.

Ruhan parked the car and got out, the bouquet in hand. Ruhi followed, her heart heavy with a growing unease.

Inside, they walked until they spotted Elijah and James standing before a gravestone. Both looked up as Ruhan approached, their expressions serious.

Ruhi hesitated, her gaze shifting to the gravestone as she stepped closer. Her breath hitched when she read the name carved into the cold stone.
