When you didn't say "I love you" back,
were you thinking about whether or not you said it
you would mean it?
Was there something that I did that made you hesitate?
Maybe it was the fact that I wore my own choice
of outfit for the holidays (that still kept me warm)
when you had something else in mind that wanted
to show me off a little more.
Maybe you were still lost in thought over a
possible bad day you had.
Maybe you didn't get my two "I love you" texts from earlier.
I don't know.
When you didn't say "I love you" back,
are you somehow telling me you are losing your love for me?
You said it yesterday and just two hours ago.
You just said it to me after I got the call my godmother died.
Please always tell me "I love you."
I'll take it as a Christmas present this year.
Promise I'll always hear it and feel its warmth wrap around me
as the winters get colder.
Mock me if you want for always being cold,
but warm me up with those three little words.
