3 weeks later
After everything had settled, all the sisters moved into a massive mansion in Detroit, with suites for every sister except Denise, who, unfortunately, was still married to Russell, but he was next on the list.
After all the deaths, and since Karen was missing from the sisters for a year and a half, the sisters decided to have a celebration. Twinkie felt weird about it because she felt like she was celebrating death.
In reality, they were celebrating life and seizing the opportunity to live it. Now, it was time for them to plan for Denise's future.
~ planning time~
Denise walked into the mansion with her 6-month-old Joyous. Since she was still living at home with Russell, she was ready for this plan to take place. "Aye, where are you all at? My baby is hungry, and so am I."
Everyone ran to the living room, ready to smother Joyous in kisses and cuddles and start making plans. Jackie had baby Heaven in her hands. Placing their children in the playpen, Dorinda said, " I want one. Greg and I are going to have one?"
Jackie shook her head. "Nah, you should focus on yourself. You're still young, and you and Greg can travel the world and be free."
Dorinda shook her head and said, " I need to have kids now because I think Alex put voodoo on me or something." She said while crying
Karen, slightly confused: "Huh?? What do you mean? And what does that have to do with having kids?"
Dorinda cried harder. " he must've put a spell on me before he died because I'm seeing people like they're haunting me."
Denise: "Like, who's haunting you? Alex??" She was concerned and scared for her sister
As soon as Dorinda was about to answer, Twinkie ran into the house at full speed, fear encased in her face. Twinkie said, "Y'all, I just saw a ghost."
All the sisters, minus Dorinda, looked at Twinkie with concern and collectively said, "Huh?"
Twinkie, "Don't think I'm crazy, but I just saw Mama.
Dorinda " damn, we both got voodoo put on us. You saw her, too, but it looked like she was running from me when I saw her, as if she was hiding.
Jackie looked at her sisters as if they were crazy. "That lady's dead. She's not haunting you. Hopefully, she finally found peace in heaven or wherever God sent her. That's just your brain trying to cope with all our loss."
Twinkie: "No, Jackie. She was there looking at me and Jaxon. Doe, how did you see her?"
Dorinda said, "Greg and I were at a picnic, and I turned to my right and saw her. When I tried to stand up to get a better look at her, she disappeared.
Little did the Clark sisters know that Mattie, now known as Maria, had been back in Detroit for about two months and had no confidence to confront her daughters.
She had been getting therapy for a year and a half and had just started following her daughters. Only Twinkie and Dorinda had seen her by accident, but she followed all of them. She had a secret about Russell that could help Denise.
As she stalked them, she realized that they had all come together to form a house, and at this very moment, all of them were together, including Denise. She had to grow a pair and talk to her children today.
She walked through the mansion door. Unfortunately, the daughters thought they lived in a safe neighborhood and nobody was stalking them, so they had no reason to lock the door or have security anymore.
As the sisters were in the kitchen talking about seeing a ghost, that very ghost walked in.
Mattie/Maria walked into the kitchen. The sisters were fussing and fighting. She said, " Now stop the madness. I'm not a ghost; I'm not dead either."
Everyone was sitting around the table, shocked and quietened by the woman before them.
Jackie: "Doe, I think we are all crazy or haunted. Why does she look so real, though, and why is she fussing? I thought Ghost was supposed to be friendly."
Mattie said it in a stern voice, " Jacqueline, I am not Casper. I am your mother who faked her death and killed your father".
"I think we all deserve a better life, and I'm going to prove it for the rest of my life, why I deserve to be a part of your life, too." Mattie ended her statement in a soft tone.
Denise looked around and said, "How the Fuck do you do that? The fake your death thing?"
Mattie shook her head at her daughter and said, "You worry about the wrong things. Let's worry about you leaving your marriage to your husband." As Denise's baby Joyous cried because of the stress in his mother's voice.
Denise got up and went to the bassinet where Jackie and her son were sleeping.
Mattie looked over at her grandkids, longing to meet them finally. She looked back at her daughters, who appeared shocked to see her, as if she wasn't real.
Mattie: I know I have some explaining to do, and I know I have some forgiveness and making up to do as well, but as of right now, I want to get Denise out of her situation, and then we can start mending our relationships. "
Dorinda: Umm, I can't say this isn't awkward, or that I understand why you did what you did as a mother, but I'm willing to help Niecy get out of that relationship with your advice.
Denise put her child back to sleep and returned to the kitchen. "So how do we do it?! But first, why do you want to help us?"
Mattie held in her Sob because that question meant her daughters didn't think she loved them. Mattie couldn't blame them; she was a cruel and unusual mother, but she was taking it one step at a time so that she could prove herself to her daughters.
Her therapist told her to show up as the mother and prove that she is the mother that they deserve, and they'll trust you to become the grandmother that you want to be.
So, she had to build that trust. Mattie said, " I know I wasn't the greatest mom, but I'm going to prove to you that I'm better, and this is how I'm going to start."
"Denise, your husband signed a bill that got approved; however, that bill helps sex trafficking rings. Your husband and his constituents are sex trafficking young children."
Denise: "That sick bitch. Do you think he tried something with Joyous? I can't have my baby around a PDF file. So, wait, Mattie, do we expose him?"
Mattie: It's Maria now, and yes, we expose him. Then put him in prison, and you move in with your sisters so we can start building on what should've been.
Jackie: "How do we know if we can trust you?
Another question that pierced Mattie's heart. However, she understood; Mattie said, " You'll just have to put faith in me, and if I screw up, you have the right not to ever speak to me again, but I'm your mother, and I want you all to experience happiness too."
All the girls looked up at their mother in shock. They had never met an unselfish Mattie before. Had she changed for real? They questioned themselves in their heads.
