"You're late" Sevika groaned as I walked up to her.
"I'm always late" I chuckled.
I smiled as a masked Scar came into view. A few other masked figures stood behind him. I dapped him up as I felt gentle taps on my shoulders from the other firelights.
Sevika and I pushed our way through the crowd of zaunites to my dad's statue. We climbed to the base of it to stand over the crowd.
"Alright listen up!" I shouted over the voices, getting the crowd's attention.
I took my mask off, letting it hang from a small hook at my waist. The zaunites immediately grew quiet and waited for one of us to speak.
"It's no secret we got history, blood spilt on all sides" Sevika started as she stared at the crowd. "But we grew up on the same streets, ate the same scraps. Like it or not, we're in this mess together."
"Enforcers raiding our homes! Noxians down our throats!" I added on. The crowd got riled up as I listed off our issues. "Innocents getting carted over to Stillwater! We gotta choose right now whether we're gonna throw in the towel or make a stand together!"
"Not as firelights" Sevika said, putting a hand to my shoulder. "Or jinxers, or washed up goons....as Zaunites!"
"We wanna see Jinx!" A man shouted from the crowd.
"Where is she?" Another added.
The jinxers began to murmur about Jinx, causing a small uproar of voices. I crossed my arms, allowing my eyes to roll at the short attention span.
I can't say I fully blame them...Jinx did single-handedly take down topside's council. She's a symbol of hope for some.
Suddenly, a hiss sound filled our ears. We turned to see Isha standing atop a beam on a nearby building, holding up one of Jinx's flairs. Blue smoke raised into the sky as she stared down at us. Her blue strands slightly waved in the breeze. I smirked at the sight, she looked like Powder.
The voices calmed as fists began going into the air. They cheered her on with wide smiles. Sevika and I exchanged glances with weary smiles before we too raised our fists. I looked back up to Isha, giving her a quick wink of approval. Her smile grew a tad wider as she raised the flair higher in the air.
Her smile dropped as she looked ahead of us. Before I could see what she was looking at, a sharp wind blew past my face. Sevika let out a yelp as her mechanical arm was pinned to the statue by a spear. I stumbled from the shock, falling off the platform. Scar quickly rushed to my aid, catching me before I could hit the ground.
"You're all under arrest!" A large noxian soldier shouted as he led a group of enforcers in the area.
Screams erupted and dust raised into the air as zaunites ran for cover. Others prepared for a fight as the enforcers approached.
"Go!" Scar yelled to me as he pushed me away in the chaos. He began fighting off an enforcer that had snuck up on us.
"Firelights! Retreat!" I screamed as loud as I could.
I went for my double chain knife, running my hand across the chain between the two blades. I swung them around wildly, throwing one at an enforcer that began throwing an older woman to the ground. The blade pierced the enforcer's shoulder. I brought it out as I grew closer, kicking the enforcer to the ground.
"T-Thank you, little hound" The woman spoke shakily.
"Run! Get out of here" I shouted to her as I watched our surroundings to make sure she could leave unscathed.
