INDIANA

The decision to head back to LA was unanimous. We all knew that waiting any longer wouldn't make a difference.

Viktor Volkov was in LA, and tomorrow marked the fifth day—the day he'd send me the time and location for our meeting. We needed to be there, ready to face him head-on.

The drive back to Bucharest was quiet, tension thick in the air. It was the kind of silence that wasn't awkward, just heavy, as everyone mentally prepared for what was coming.

By the time we pulled up to the airstrip, I felt my nerves buzzing under my skin. Keith was already there, standing beside the private jet as he waited for us, his arms crossed and his expression tense.

When we stepped out of the car, Keith's face lit up with relief.

"Indi." he softly called, striding over to meet me.

Before I could say a word, he wrapped me in a quick hug.

"Thank God you're okay. I've been worried sick."

I stiffened at first, surprised by his gesture, but quickly relaxed, patting his back.

"I'm fine, Keith. Really. Thanks for everything."

As I pulled away and turned around, I caught Dominik's expression—and instantly regretted it. He was glaring at Keith with an intensity that could melt steel.

His jaw was clenched, his fists shoved deep into his pockets, and his eyes screamed something I couldn't quite place.

Jealousy, maybe?

Clearing my throat, I decided to introduce them.

"Keith, this is Dominik, Katarina, Lee, and Alexa," I said, gesturing to each of them in turn. "And everyone, this is Keith. He's the FBI agent that's been helping me."

Keith extended a hand toward Dominik first, his polite smile unwavering.

"It's good to finally meet you."

Dominik didn't budge. He didn't even glance at Keith's hand. Instead, his eyes narrowed, cutting Keith down with a single glare.

Keith hesitated, awkwardly lowering his hand.

"Right," he mumbled, shifting his attention to the others, who weren't exactly welcoming either.

Katarina and Alexa barely acknowledged him, and Lee just gave him a once-over before looking away.

Dominik finally spoke, his voice sharp.

"We don't have time for this. Let's get on the jet. It's a long flight back to LA."

Keith nodded quickly, stepping back to give everyone space.

"Agreed. Everything's ready to go whenever you are."

I waited until everyone else started boarding before turning to Keith, who leaned closer and muttered,

"What's his deal? I didn't even do anything."

I couldn't help but smile, shaking my head.

"Don't take it personally. Dominik's always like that with new people."

Keith raised an eyebrow, unconvinced.

"Yeah, sure. He's definitely got something against me."

He wasn't wrong, of course. Dominik's behavior was practically screaming jealousy, and I could see right through him. But instead of dwelling on it, I shrugged.
