INDIANA

The deafening explosion rocked the building, shaking the walls and sending dust and debris cascading from the ceiling.

The two men holding me flinched, momentarily distracted by the chaos erupting outside. I didn't waste the opportunity.

With everything I had left in me, I twisted hard out of their grip, ignoring the searing pain in my ribs. My instincts kicked in as the first man turned toward me—his hand reaching for me—but I swung my elbow into his throat.

He staggered back, choking, and I spun to kick the second guy square in the gut. He grunted and doubled over, but I didn't stop.

I grabbed his head and slammed it into the nearest wall with a sickening crack. He crumpled to the ground, unmoving.

The first man was recovering fast, so I grabbed his wrist as he lunged for me again, twisted it violently, and disarmed him. The gun clattered to the floor, and I kicked him in the face before he could react.

He dropped like a stone. My body screamed in agony, but adrenaline drowned out the pain.

Panting hard, I bent down, snatched up the discarded gun, and bolted for the door.

The hall was filled with shouts and distant gunfire now, the noise echoing off the concrete walls. Smoke drifted in from somewhere ahead, and I ran blindly toward the chaos.

My pulse thundered in my ears as I pushed forward, clutching the gun tightly with both hands.

When I burst outside, the scene unfolded in front of me like something out of a war zone. People were running everywhere—Dominik's men scattering like rats as the SWAT team stormed the warehouse grounds.

Gunfire cracked through the air, voices shouted orders, and red and blue lights flashed from beyond the fence line.

Keith. He'd gotten my message. Backup had come.

But my relief was short-lived as realization dawned upon me.

"Hailey!" I screamed her name as I sprinted toward the far side of the warehouse.

My chest ached, my lungs burning with every ragged breath. My mind raced with panic—where was she?

What had they done to her?

I rounded a corner at full speed, desperate, and collided hard with someone.

I stumbled back, raising the gun instinctively, my finger curling on the trigger.

"Hey! Indie it's me!"

Keith.

I froze, the gun wavering slightly as my vision cleared. He stared at me in shock, his expression quickly shifting to relief.

"Jesus Christ," he muttered, stepping toward me.

Before I could react, he pulled me into a rough hug, his arms wrapping tightly around me.

"Thank God you're okay."

I didn't have time for this. I pushed away from him, shaking my head.

"We don't have much time! Hailey—they have her somewhere in here."

Keith's face darkened, and he glanced around, the sounds of chaos continuing around us.

"Where's Dominik?"

"I don't know," I said sharply, scanning the area. "We have to find Hailey."

I turned and ran before he could say another word. My boots pounded against the dirt and gravel as I sprinted past a group of SWAT officers yelling commands.
