Two hours after Billy snuck out, the party was thriving. Lily was so proud of her hard work and dedication; she was also grateful for the distraction from the pain. She would mourn her relationship with Billy tomorrow, tonight was about celebrating her successes. Some of Genoa City's finest were dressed in their spookiest or sexiest costumes.
She noticed Noah Newman and his new girlfriend, Summer and Kyle, and was pleasantly surprised to see Nick Newman arrive with Sharon on his arm. The not-so-former couple looked amazing, dressed in their 70s attire from Mariah and Tessa's wedding; their attendance being so last minute they didn't have time to grab costumes.
Noah was chatting with Allie when he happened to look at the club's entrance. "Oh my God." He blurted out before he could stop himself. He could tell by the way they were acting that the flame had rekindled.
Allie turned around to see Nick and Sharon walking in arm in arm. She couldn't understand what the big deal was. She'd seen Noah's parents together hundreds of times since she and Noah had started dating. But something about this time seemed different, she couldn't quite put her finger on it, but it was there.
"Your parents look cute." Allie said to get Noah's attention. She was startled to see the pained look on her boyfriend's face. "Why are you making that face?"
"They're back together." Noah answered in a strained voice.
"And that's a bad thing?" Allie questioned. She really didn't see what the problem was.
Noah let out a deep exhale, not even sure where to begin. "For my parents yes. They've tried before and every time it ends in disaster." Sighing, he ran his hands through his hair. "Something always happens and they both fall apart leaving me and Mariah and Faith to pick up the pieces. I... I don't want to go through it again. I won't."
Allie squeezed his hand in compassion not knowing what to say. Noah gave a tight smile that fell off his face the moment he looked across the room and made eye contact with Summer. An extremely irate looking Summer. Based on the look on her face Summer had seen the same thing he saw and based on that look she was just as angry if not more so.
Summer had been having a very nice child-free evening with Kyle. After trick-or-treating with Harrison, the young couple had a quick dinner before heading to the party. She'd been perfectly content to sip her Virgin Long Island Ice Tea and dance with her husband; until she saw her dad walk in. Sharon and Nick acting like love sick teenagers was not only vomit inducing, it was infuriating. "I can't believe this." She angrily spat.
Kyle, not having seen them yet, looked at his wife in confusion. "What's up?" He asked before turning his head to see what Summer was glaring at. The young Abbott saw Nick spinning Sharon on the dance floor with a look of pure love in his eyes. They were clearly back together and he couldn't bring himself to care. In his opinion it was inevitable, he didn't know why Summer was so surprised.
"I can't believe this. How could he take her back? Again!" Summer ranted. Kyle sighed in exhaustion. She clearly wasn't going to let this go.
"Sweetheart, you have to let your father live his own life." Kyle carefully said. He blanched when Summer turned her rage filled eyes at him. "I'm just saying that this is his mistake to make, you have to let him. And besides why let them ruin a perfectly good evening for us?" The CEO breathed a sigh of relief when he saw his wife visibly relax.
"You're right, tonight is about us, not my dad being stupid." Summer exhaled, she would confront her dad later. She threw on a smirk and grabbed Kyle's hand, "Let's dance this night away." She dragged her husband back onto the dance floor.
Once Noah saw Summer drag Kyle onto the floor he knew it was up to him to talk to his parents. With Allie right by his side, he walked over to greet them. "Hey guys"
Sharon and Nick turned to face their son and his girlfriend. "Hi there. You guys look so cute." Sharon hugged them both. Releasing Allie from the hug, she noticed the younger couple's eyes were focused on her holding Nick's hand. Knowing exactly what they were dying to ask she gave them permission, "Go ahead and ask. I know you want to."
"What are you two doing? Are you really back together?" Noah blurted out in frustration.
"Yes we are." Nick answered, feeling both annoyed and guilty at his son's questions. "For good."
"You said that last time. What's different?" Noah pressed.
"We're different." Sharon answered this time. "We really talked about all the issues we've had in the past. All the pain and hurt." Noah looked unconvinced and honestly neither parent could blame him. "We're committed to making this work. I've loved your father since high school. No one will ever come close to him in my heart."
"And no one will ever compare to your mother. She's the love of my life." Nick added. Sharon smiled and rewarded Nick with a kiss for that answer.
Noah gave a tight smile. He'd heard this all before and he just couldn't bring himself to be excited or even happy about it. "Well forgive me for not jumping for joy at this news, re-runs lose their appeal the more times you see them." And with that Noah walked away from them heading back onto the dance floor; no doubt to tell Summer every detail. Allie gave an awkward wave goodbye before going to find him.
"That went well." Nick sarcastically quipped. Getting a verbal beating from his son wasn't how Nick wanted to spend his Halloween.
"I think that was only the iceberg." Sharon responded. She noticed Summer giving her the mother of death glares. Kyle had also noticed and quickly spun his wife to a location where they couldn't see each other. Apparently this reunion wasn't going to go any smoother than their previous ones.
