"I'm really sorry, Sung. I tried to get out of this but I couldn't. But I promise that I'll get back as soon as I can," Minho said, emphasizing his promise so that it would sugarcoat the bad news that he had dumped on his little family.

Jisung sighed and rubbed his temples with the hand that wasn't holding up his phone, "Be safe, Min. Sunhee wants to say bye." Minho's heart leaped a bit as his daughter's sweet face appeared way too close to the screen. "Hi Papa! Why aren't you gonna be here for Christmas?" She pouted, less subtle about her disappointment than Jisung had been.

"I'm sorry sweetheart, papa really does want to be there with you."

"Then why aren't you?"

"Because papa works with people who will be very angry if he doesn't do what he says."

"Oh," she whispered, but Minho's heart broke at the sight of her little lip stuck out in a pout. But there really was nothing he could do. MInho had built his business on integrity, and if he canceled this meeting last minute, that would go against all his company policies.

His assistant entered the room and informed Minho that he had a dinner scheduled with an executive soon, so Minho had to hang up the call. Minho said his goodbyes through the phone. He wanted to cry because all he wanted was to be with his family. He didn't want to miss a single moment of Sunhee's life nor did he want to spend a holiday away from the love of life.

Minho sighed and tried to remain relatively lively for the dinner, but his heart and mind were miles away

...

Jisung sighed as he tossed his phone onto the couch. Sunhee sat in his lap, clearly upset that her papa wasn't here. You and me both, Jisung thought as he stood, picking up the little girl with him. "Why don't we decorate so it'll be super pretty when Papa comes back?"

Sunhee smiled, "Can I color for him, appa?" Jisung smiled and kissed his adorable daughter on the cheek, "Of course you can, baby." Jisung took Sunhee to her room and proceeded to put her jacket and shoes on before getting himself ready to go. Just a simple hoodie (Minho's), and a winter coat on top.

After being married and having Sunhee, Jisung gave up on trying to look good when he left the house. All that mattered was Minho's opinion and Jisung knew that his husband would think he was the most gorgeous human on the Earth if he was wearing a burlap sack.

Once both were dressed for the cold weather, Jisung loaded Sunhee into the car and drove them into town, to the nearest mall. Normally, he liked to walk the strip, but it was way too cold to do that and he didn't want to risk Sunhee getting sick.

"Appa? When is Papa gonna be back?" Jisung sighed once again as he parked the car, "I don't know darling, but you know he loves you right?" The little girl nodded and wiped her eyes, "I miss him."

"I do too, but if we do a lot before he gets back, he'll be super surprised. So let's go! I'll even let you get a treat." Jisung couldn't let himself or Sunhee wallow, mainly himself. He never outright expressed how much he hated that his husband was gone so often. But it really did hurt.

Jisung knew that Minho loved both of them more than anything, but he also loved his job. Minho had spent his entire life building this company from the ground up, and Jisung didn't want him to have to give that up, but he did wish that he would be home more often.
