After the whole scene with Beth, I went inside and grabbed a granola bar from the cabinet, and saw a note my mom had left. “Went to Sandra’s for girls night out. Call some friend if you want. Food is in the oven, see you later honey. Love, mommy.”

“So she ignored you the whole way to your house?” Jessica questioned.

“Yeah, the only word she said was bye, and that was only when we got to my house. Not only that, but she drove away before I even got to reply.”

“Wow, I always thought Beth was nice,” muttered Lexi.

“She is. It’s just…” I said, not knowing how to finish the sentence, and shrugged.

“Don’t worry. She’ll get over whatever she’s going through,” Jessica assured me, which made me feel a little better.

I was currently in my room with the girls, talking about everything that was going on with Beth and I. These girls were my partners in crime. I had known everyone except Rosie since the fourth grade. Lexi was the loud and talkative one. With her, there’s no awkward silence, and she could be heard from a mile away. Mel was the crazy one. Sometimes, I thought that we needed to check her into a mental hospital but she made everything fun so we still loved her. Jessica was the blunt one. She’d tell it like it was and wasn't afraid to tell you her feelings about you, good or bad. Ella was the shy one, well, in public, and the epically talented artist. Lastly, Rosie – I’d known her since second grade. She was the one with the personality, a smart arse, but also sweet and funny at the same time.

“Anyways, changing the subject, Rosie, I saw you and Kolby talking next to your locker today! Do tell us what you were talking about,” Mel squealed. We all laughed and listened to Rosie’s story.

“Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.”

Like any other weekday, I woke up to my alarm clock. ‘Ugh, why is my alarm clock so jealous of my relationship with me bed,’ I thought, then went to my usual morning routine.

When I was done, I put on some lipstick and went downstairs. I realized my mum was nowhere in the house and figured she had spent the night at Sandra’s. Making a bowl of Cheerios and milk, I sat down, and ate waiting for Beth to pick me up. After finishing my Cheerios, I noticed that Beth wasn't at my house. Checking the time, it was already 7:15, and school started at 7:45. She should’ve been her fifteen minutes ago. Worried, I dialed Beth’s number. It rang at least four times before going to voicemail. I tried three more times, but only to get the same reaction... Strange… Five minutes past, and she still hadn’t showed up.

“I’m gonna pop some tags, only got twenty dollars in my pocket,” I heard my phone ring and picked up, hoping it was Beth.

“Hey, Alex, where the heck are you?”

“Home. Beth still hasn't picked me up,” I replied, recognizing Ella’s voice.

“Um, Alex. Beth arrived twenty minutes ago.”
