To say I was shocked would be a understatment. The words kept repeating in my head,
“Britney is my new girlfriend.”
“Britney is my new girlfriend.”
“Britney is my new girlfriend.”
"Alexis are you alright? Jason's mother questioned,"You look as if you're about to faint"
" I--I'm fine" I stammered, "Uh can I be excused,I'm feeling a bit tired" I lied, not waiting for an answer I rushed into my room and shut the door behind me.
'"This can't be happening"
Is all I kept thinking. Okay breathe Alex, breathe. This all just a dream, Jason isn't dating Britney, Jason isn't dating Britney. Everything is okay. I tried to convince myself as I sunk to the floor.
You know, having feelings for your best friend isn't a good thing. Knowing they don't feel the same about you sucks, having to watch them date other people is worse. But watching them date the person who hates you and left you and only uses you for their own needs by far takes the top of list of crappy things.
I will never forgot the day me and Britney stopped being best friends.
"Britney, hey" I waved as I quickly made my way over to wear she was seated.
It had been two weeks since the beginning of freshmen year and she seemed to have changed, we've been best friends for as long as I could remember but she seemed to be hanging with what she liked to call the "in crowd". As I approached the table I saw her whispering something into one of the girls she'd been hanging with lately.
"Alex, what are you doing here" she questioned, Knowing fully well why I was there.
"I thought we always sat together, why are these girls sitting those seats are for our friends"
"Listen Alex, I've been meaning to tell you this, well we're finally in highschool and this is a time for us to meet new people and rise higher in the social ladder and quite frankly I really can't do that with a reject like you." blurted Britney, all the while she sipped more of her coffee as if to say this was nothing more than a casual conversation
"B--but we're best friends" I whimpered pathetically as I saw eyes, of everyone that could hear all that she was saying, all over me.
"Maybe you don't get it, me and you aren't best friends, we're not friends, nor are we acquaintance, you are a loser, I am not. you don't matter, I do." She practically yelled out at the top of her lungs. "You are nothing Alexis" She snarled. And silence filled the room, I couldn't find any words to say.
"No Britney you are nothing, and you will always be nothing. Don't ever talk to Alex like that again." I heard Jason say from behind me his tone of voice revealed how furious he was.
Jason and I were always close but that day we became even closer we were practically inseperable. He stood up for me, and because of him I am a bigger person than Britney is, both socially and in personality wise. That's why it's so shocking to see them together.
My flash back ended with a knock at the door.
"Alex everyone is about to leave would you like to say goodbye." My mother asked from the other side of the door.
