I wonder who this girl is. She's kind of pretty. Well, not just "kind of", she's beautiful, magnificent with her choppy brown hair and kaleidoscope eyes. She's probably just a friend of mine.
I had no memory of anything, so Will Solace had introduced himself to me and told me about the football concussion. They'd ended up losing that game. Will had told me a few basic things like the Academy and if I don't get better soon, it'll be a problem if the teachers find out.
The girl with choppy hair had grabbed my hand and touched my head a lit, testing if I was okay, I guess. When I'd told her who she was, she looked at me funny, like I was crazy. She looks like she's about to cry, her eyes glistening with tears, " Jason, its me," As if it was that clear, " Are you alright? If your joking around right now, I'm seriously going to get mad."
I don't say anything. I don't know what to say or who this girl even is.
She turns to Will, "What's going on, Will? Calypso said he was fine!" Whoa. I guess there's more to a person than looks. This girl has a temper.
Will looks worried, "Calm down, Piper."
So the girl's name is Piper. That's cute.
Piper looks like she's about to either explode or cry, "Calm down? Why does everyone keep telling me to calm down?"
"Let's talk about this later, okay?" Will and Piper seem to be talking to each other with their eyes. I wonder if Will is Piper's boyfriend. Probably. Of course a girl like Piper's going to have a boyfriend. None of my business.
Piper looks back at me, and I realize she really is going to cry. But before will or I can say anything, she runs off, slamming the door shut behind her.
I look at Will, "What was that?"
Will shakes his head, but doesn't answer my question," You need to rest," he says instead. I decide to do just that, too tired to even question who Piper is.
........................................................
I woke up to the familiar sound of thunder. It was dark around me and I couldn't see anything so I lay there, thinking, wondering. It feels weird to have no memories of before. Like you've just been hollowed out. The clock on the wall reads 5:06 A.M. I decide to get up, since I can't sleep again, no use in waiting for dawn. Ironic since its raining.
Its raining , but when I go outside, I see a silhouette in the rain too. I guess I'm not the only one who'd rather be in the rain than inside. I'd felt claustrophobic inside. I get closer to see who it is. And before I can take one step further, I stop in my tracks. My feet are cold from the rain since I'd come outside barefoot.
I look in aw at the girl standing before me. Its Piper. She has her eyes closed, her head is turned up towards the sky, she's wearing pajamas, drenched from the rain. And she's beautiful.
Without thinking, I take a step towards her and I step on a branch. Piper startles and looked to where the noise came from. Her eyes find mine. I stand still, wondering who'll make the first move. She does, walking towards me. I feel nervous. I'm also completely drenched from the rain, my clothing sticking to my body like glue.
Piper stops when her toes touch mine, she's also barefoot. I wonder if she walked all the way here. She's so close to me, I can see her eyes are red. I realize she's crying, silently. I open my mouth and, not knowing what to say, close it again. The pitter pattering of the rain drown out all noise but the beating of my heart. Its so loud I think she hears it.
Suddenly she goes up on her tiptoes and kisses me, slow and hesitantly as if she's afraid I'll disappear. I kiss her back, pulling her closer to me. But just when I do that, she pulls away and whispers in my ear, "We used to kiss in the rain." And for a second, a tree house flashes through my mind. It had felt so familiar, kissing her. My hands hang at my side. Before saying anything else, Piper runs in the other direction, her bare feet splashing in the rain with each step she takes.
Strange. That's how I feel. But I don't want to feel strange, all I want to feel are her lips again.
