The snow fall had slightly picked intensity. Harsh cold wind blew on the roads as Isabel walked on the pavement. Her gait was quick and angered. As she sobbed hysterically, tears continuously rolled down her cheeks which she was wiping away every now and then with the back of her hand. She didn't care her hair getting the snow. Didn't care her clothes dampening in the dew. Didn't care even if the temperature dropped to below minus and something happened to her.
The father of her baby was the killer of her father.
That one thought dominated her mind in that moment. Possessed her entire existence and cut her heart to bits and pieces.
The one person she trusted her whole life with, whom she gave her EVERYTHING a person has to offer, betrayed her in the most dirtiest way possible. His loving words, his soft eyes, his warm smiles, EVERY F*CKING THING WAS A LIE! It was a TRAP! Just a part of his blo*dy plan!
She stumbled as she bumped into someone in her blind strides.
“Isabel ?”
The call of her name made her look at the person she had bumped into and found herself looking at Margarette.
“What happened, dear ? Why are you out in such a weather like this ? And why are you crying, honey ?” - the elder woman asked kindly, her forehead creasing in worry.
Fresh tears fell from Isabel's eyes.
“I am Margarette. The lady with whom Christopher bumped into at a grocery store about two months ago. My groceries fell out of the bag and he carried them home for me as apology. Sweet guy he is.”
The words rang inside her head. Christopher had dodged going to Margarette's home for inviting her on their wedding but the lady didn't attend herself either even when she had said she will. At that time, Isabel didn't frown upon it but now, everything seemed suspicious to her.
“Who are you ?” - Isabel asked through tears. “Are you really what you're showing you are or you're just another person with a mask on face ?”
She didn't know whom to trust anymore. Her world had just flipped upside down. She wanted nothing more than to die then and there.
The frown on Margarette's forehead vanished. Her eyes widened but she didn't seem put off at Isabel's question.
“So you've known everything.” - Margarette said with a sigh.
“So you are involved in everything.” - Isabel spoke quietly. She was not even shocked at this point. When Christopher, the person who was her heart and soul, could hurt and betray her like that, then anything could happen in the world.
Margarette sighed again, soft and melancholic. “Come with me.”
She grasped Isabel's wrist and started walking in the direction from she had been coming. Isabel protested but Margarette didn't pay heed.
“Where are you taking me ? I said leave my hand!”
“I don't know what have you seen or heard but it's not necessary for eye to eye or ear to ear to be always true.” - Margarette said, keeping her unwavering hold.
Isabel watched in panic as they turned a street and moved towards a house. She had no idea Margarette lived at a walking distance from Christopher's apartment. Goodness, what more had he kept from her ?
“Leave me i said! CHRISTOPHER KILLED MY FATHER!” - Isabel thundered as they entered the house.
“AND YOUR FATHER KILLED HIS FATHER!” Margarette exclaimed, leaving Isabel's wrist in the living room at last.
