Prologue
I finished the last line of the script I was writing and sat back in my chair. I smiled my huge smile that always looked a little like the Joker from Batman. Then, I began composing an email to a good friend of mine.
Hey, old pal!
It's been way too long since we've talked! I've graduated from Kutztown University here in Pennsylvania with my English stuff and I am moving to New York very soon! Hopefully you'll come visit me!
So I spent most of the Summer writing this script that I wanna share with you! I hope you like it! It's a goofy story, and there is plenty of romance and drama. You should share with your friends from college!
Anyways I gotta run. I'm packing my room for the move and it's gonna take forever!
Attached is the script! Enjoy!
Love, your totally awesome friend,
Alex Rose
I sat back and smiled, then began packing some boxes. I was trying to pack some of my room so I could go out and have fun that night and hang out with a few friends who were staying in PA while I went to New York to become a screenwriter. A ding at my computer caught me, and I threw down the box I'd been carrying to answer.
Hey, Alex!
Can't talk much right now, but just got the script and I can't wait to read it!
I grinned my biggest grin, then went back to work. I pulled my long brown hair into a pony tail, straightened my blue framed glasses and began cleaning. It wasn't 5 minutes until I heard my iPhone begin to ring. Not Alone from my favorite group was playing. I picked it up, saw an unfimilar number and unlocked my phone to answer.
"Hello?" I timidly asked the person on the other line. I didn't know what to expect. Who was this person and how did they get my number?
"Alex! Hey!" The voice said. It was all too familiar.
"Why are you calling me? I told you to leave me alone," I told them, grabbing various objects and throwing them into boxes.
"You don't call me at all, you always ignore me and I really wanna get back together with you,” His voice said, a small whimper escaping him.
“I told you. I'm not getting back together with you. You decided to fight Nicki's boyfriend! You made too many wrong choices, okay?”
“I was drunk! I didn't choose to do anything of the sort, Alex!”
“Exactly. You were drunk. You always got drunk after the funeral and I'm sick of it.”
“Alex. Please. I love you. I've been in love with you for four years. You can't turn your back on us after four years.”
“No, I'm sorry. I can't anymore.” And with that I hung up on my ex boyfriend. I did it so neither of us would say anything that we'd regret later. No, I was moving. And if I had continued to talk to my ex, I know that I would have ended up dragging my sorry ass back to him. And I wasn't going to do that.
I kept packing and started thinking more and more about him. But nothing could stop my mind from wandering to the story of us. Not that Taylor Swift song, the story of me and my ex.
