Chrysta
"Babe?"
"Mmm?" He hummed with his eyes closed.
"You didn't tell me where we'll be staying."
"I know."
Putting my attention on him, he didn't budge. Sighing, I just went back to looking out the window. On a flight heading to Houston, we were attending his family Easter weekend reunion. Though things were somewhat okay where me and his mother were concerned, I was still on guard and I honestly didn't want to stay at her house.
"Why you letting that bother you?"
"I'm not. I just realized you didn't say and you usually do."
"Okay."
"If we're staying at your mother's house, just let me know."
"We're not Chrysta." He adjusted himself in his seat then looked at me. "This yo first time coming back to Houston since all that cat mess, you really think I'm gonna do that?"
"No."
"Well alright."
Leaning over, he kissed me on my cheek before getting up and heading to the bathroom. While he did that, I checked on our children in their seat. Smiling at our son cuddling his sister while they both slept, I was happy that they were still asleep.
"Would you like anything to eat or drink ma'am?" The flight attendant asked.
"I'll have a bottle of water and a bag of chips please." I smiled.
Nodding, she walked off and got what I asked for as I got back in my seat. Shortly after, she returned with two of each item same time Aug came back. Telling her thanks, we indulged and enjoyed the rest of our flight.
"Sometimes I wish you'd cut me a little more slack you know."
Putting my attention on him, he was already looking at me.
"I apologize. I'm just still nervous about this weekend."
"I know baybeh but you know I'm not gonna put you in any uncomfortable situation."
"I know." I sighed.
"Good." He poked me on my side causing me to squirm and smile.
The past four months have been a different pace for us. Now that I have resigned from my job back home, I'm a full time stay at home mom with a small business. Permanently living in California, my children were no longer going back and forth for six months each year.
After three months of public school, our son was back to homeschooling. He had expressed to us how difficult it was on him, having to get up early to beat traffic to get to school and he felt like it was beginning to affect his work. Wanting what was best for him, we expressed our gratitude to the school's principal for accommodating us, gave a donation and went right back to how things were.
"Remind me that I gotta go collect our tees from my momma after we check in."
"Okay."
"I'll make sure it's the correct size."
"I didn't say anything." I shrugged. "It would have just become another cleaning rag and I wouldn't be attending."
"Yea love, I know."
"Once you do."
Seeing him side eye me, I smirked a little. As we switched our conversation time went by and soon our flight would be landing. Gently walking our children, Aug got Celeste because we knew how she got when she was awaken and not wake up on her own.
