It was early in the morning again but the early morning didn't block out how hot it was. I have lived in the south my whole life and never once enjoyed the hot, humid weather. When my brother was alive he loved it. He loved the long summers and long days. I never understood why exactly anyone would willingly go outside in jeans and a T-shirt and stay outside all day, every day in the hot weather, but ever since he passed I began to appreciate the hot weather little by little, however, I will always enjoy the winters more than the summers, no matter how much I miss him.
I was sitting on the stairs of the large wrap-around porch, enjoying the cool breeze. Fall was coming soon, but it was still hot.
I watched from afar, Daryl, Shane, Andrea, and T-Dog preparing a car to go look for Hershel, Rick, and Glenn. The three still hadn't made it back since yesterday. I hoped they were safe, more importantly, I hoped and prayed they were still alive.
The screen door opened behind me and Austin came down the stairs holding a shotgun and a bottle of water.
"Are you going with them?" He stopped in his tracks turning to me.
"I don't think I need to tell you anything especially considering how you just ran off with Lori yesterday without ever telling me." I sighed.
I thought back to the conversation Dale had with me last night."Look I'm sorry for not telling you but I didn't know where you were. If you were off with Andrea or something I don't know. Lori wanted to go then, and I didn't exactly have enough time to tell you."
He scoffed at that, "Excuse me? Bitch, I'm your boyfriend and I deserve to know where you are every minute. You pull that stunt again, I will leave you."
"Leave me then, I don't need you the group cares about me." He looked at me for a minute rage all over his body he then stomped towards me grabbing me by my wrist, the same one that was injured yesterday in the wreck. He then leaned down in my face.
"You think they care about you? Do you think they actually cared about not being able to find you? That's some bullshit. I was the one worried." He said in a low, threatening, tone.
He was hurting me and scaring me, but I had to remain strong, "If you cared why didn't you come for me? Why was Shane the one?"
He looked at me, and somehow even more anger covered his face, he was about to say something but the sound of a car driving up the driveway distracted him, and he released my wrist.
Hershel's red suburban was driving up the driveway. They parked in front of the house, Rick got out first, followed by Hershel and Glenn
Some of the group came out of the house and the ones down by our campsite came up to greet them.
Rick hugged Lori and Carl tightly.
Maggie ran right past her father to hug Glenn. I smiled at the sight but frowned when Glenn didn't hug her back. What happened?Hershel just walked on towards the house.
"Patricia, prepare the shed for surgery."
I was confused wondering who was hurt.
"Car accident? How?" Rick's voice caught my attention.
"Her and y/n snuck out, I brought them back," Shane answered. Rick gave me a look but then looked back at Lori starting to say something.
"Who the hell is that?" T-dog asked pointing at the suburban, a young boy was in the backseat, asleep, a red bandana around his eyes.
"That's Randall," Glenn answered
The group moved closer to the vehicle, confused as to who this boy was and why he was now in our care.
