The next few days, you were tormented by decisions and impending things looming over, like dark clouds on the horizon, warning of a storm to come. Large banks of greyish, burdened clouds hovering over a dull sea and coming closer, inevtitably to cause dreadful showers of rain and drench you to the bone.Thinking became a struggle. Too much things, too much people, too much excitment jumping about, just too much overall.
One morning, barely as dawn had stretched its fresh, bare arms that Y/n had risen, dressed and left her quarters as discreetly as possible.
Nobody was going through the grand corridors at this hour, except some golden armoured guards and discreet servants busying themselves for the day ahead. Their steps were careful or discreet, and you had to keep a sharp ear all during your little 'escapade'.
You creeped through the halls, slid down a large marble banister leading down a massive flight of stairs as no-one could see you and darted down to the stables.
Still not a breathd of life had crossed paths with you, and the distance between you and people was already soothing your head.
Once the oak doors creaked on their brass hinges to let you in, a waft of straw, hay and horse hit you.
Several rows of lyptus and black iron paddocks created paths before you, each one with a horse more beautiful and strong than the last.
The cobbled floor was immaculate, ringing against your boots in the silence of the early morning as you ziplined through to find your own mare.
Wooden beams structured the large space and overlooking it all were glass canopies where the coloured glass formed intricate patterns overhead. If the sun was up, patterns and coloured beams of light would play around, dancing on everything. From it were hung large lanterns casting warm shadows on the dozing horses.
A few paddocks down were Loki's and Thor's, right next to each other; a thin wall keeping them apart. The signs indicating their names also showed the rider to which they were associated.
Loki's paddock had a black sign with looping green and gold writing and a death threat underneath; Thor's had a birch and gold one, with a neat script handwriting and thunderbolts carved everywhere around.
Most of the horses were calm, perhaps resting as well.
Except for yours.
Just like you, it seemed restless and antsy, needing the space and freedom conjured only by leaving this palace.
You caressed its glistening hair and mane, threading your fingers through it. It felt coarse yet soft in a reassuring manner. Its eyes watched you carefully and met yours with recognition.
Nearby, basket of weaved fibers held several food items, such as green and red shiny apples, long carrots and other tidbits that could be given. You grabbed a green apple, pulled out Loki's knife and casually slashed it into quarters, feeding them one after the other to your horse.
After the horse devoured it, you took another one and dug your teeth into it, biting ravenously into the crisp, fruite flesh.
"C'mon, you and I gotta go for a ride."
An oiled saddle, along with its pad, stirrups and girth were hung right across on several pegs with tags, indications and restraints on several ones for the royal family and higher ups.
Next to it were rows of bridle and reins, all without as much as a crack and incredibly clean.
You grabbed the necessary equipments, saddled and buckled your horse, brushed him down once then twice in satisfaction, grabbed the reins and led him out of the doors leading out of the palace, not omitting to lock them afterwards.
