CHAPTER 2.8
Rocket Racing

It was a day like no other. Snake and Gojo were both having breakfast quietly in the kitchen when all of a sudden a loud knock could be heard at the front door. Snake looked at Gojo with a raised eyebrow and Gojo shrugged. He stood up and went to the front door to open it, only to get jumped by two overly excited girls.
-”Snake!!! How are you doing?” asked Mizuki, Hope standing right next to her as if she was her twin, with a real big smile on her face.
-”...I WAS doing great..” replied Snake, slightly frustrated, Gojo walked up to them.
-”Wow! What’s up with you two?” said Gojo, pulling Snake aside and gesturing him to go back, Snake nodded and went back to finish his breakfast.
-”We’re just-” said Mizuki, before getting cut off by Hope. “...extremely happy and excited, because the race day is today!” Gojo looked at them shocked and awkward remembering the promise he made before Snake came to Fortnite.
-”...Race?” said Snake, before sighing. “You could say that I’m a professional racist.”
Everyone looked at him awkwardly.
-”You mean racer right?” asked Gojo while looking at Snake but he didn’t correct himself, instead, he smiled and kept eating his meal.
-”Anyway, we are going to ignore him for now. Gojo, you bought the tickets, right? You said you were going to buy them!” said Mizuki, excitedly and Gojo looked at her nervously, laughing awkwardly.
-”Yeah.. Yeah! Of course I did!” replied Gojo with an awkward smile.
-”That means he didn’t” said Snake, finishing his meal and putting the dishes in the sink, Gojo immediately rushed to him and covered his mouth.
-”Shut up, you prick! I still have them in my cart. I just need to actually pay for them...“ whispered Gojo to Snake. Gojo then quickly pulled his phone out and checked the tickets, noticing the price being 5 times as expensive as it first was. Snake noticed and bursted out laughing.
-”Oh I’d like to see you trying to pay for these now..” said Snake, Gojo looked really awkward and worried.
Mizuki and Hope walked up to them.
-”Oh, yeah, right, Gojo, I forgot to ask. You also bought one for Hope right? Since you know she is now part of our team.” asked Mizuki, Snake placed an arm around Gojo’s shoulder.
-”One for me too, right? You wouldn’t want to leave your friend buddy chum pal roomie out of this, now would ya?” asked Snake with a teasing tone. Gojo looked at him annoyed.
-”You are going to be the end of me, Snake.” whispered Gojo to Snake to which Snake grinned. Mizuki cleared her throat.
-”Stop gaying around and answer me!” said Mizuki annoyed. Snake let go of Gojo and pulled back with a grin, Gojo looked at her more awkwardly.
-”YES, YES I DID! Geez..” said Gojo, embarrassed and annoyed.
-”YAAAAAAAY!!!” said both girls in unison as they jumped around happily together. Gojo sighed and checked the tickets again, adding two more and paying for them. Snake saw and looked a bit surprised at how he could afford them, but didn’t question him. Gojo set his phone aside and began washing the dishes.
-”WE ARE GOING TO RACE! WE ARE GOING TO RACE!” cheered both Mizuki and Hope as they started walking around the house all excited. Snake looked at them and then at Gojo who seemed to be deep in thought.
-”I’m surprised you can afford them...“ whispered Snake to Gojo.
-”Well.. I can.. But that’s because me and DOOM have a shared account.. He is going to kill me if he finds out...“ murmured Gojo as he took out his credit card. Snake picked up the credit card and checked it.
-”How come you have this... DOOM isn’t even that great.. He seems like an irresponsible person.” asked Snake, giving Gojo his card back. Gojo looked away ashamed and guilty.
-”..It’s a long story... Which I would rather not talk about.. Just know that he's rich enough to own tons of castles.” murmured Gojo, setting his card away and quickly finishing washing the dishes.
-”Uh huh... Too bad he isn’t rich enough to deserve my respect.” replied Snake, Gojo didn’t say anything about it.
-”...I’ll go get ready. You should too.” said Snake before leaving the kitchen and going into his bedroom. Gojo sighed and checked his phone, noticing DOOM had messaged him and the following notification being from their account saying DOOM had purchased two tickets for the race too. Gojo whined before going into his room, getting ready for the race as well. Once he changed he walked in the living room where he found Snake scrolling through his phone while Mizuki and Hope were talking excitedly about the race.
-”Alright everyone! I believe it’s time we finally go-” Gojo was immediately cut off by Mizuki who grabbed him by his hand and pulled him close. Hope held Mizuki’s hand then pulled Snake by his arm, Snake got scared and yelped but before they knew they all teleported to the racing lobby.
-”RACING! AAAAAAAA” said Mizuki excitedly, Gojo looked a bit shocked at Snake and Snake back at him scared.
-”Geez I never saw them this excited.” said Gojo, Snake nodded.
-”Too excited..” murmured Snake. They all readied up, causing them to teleport right next to their cars. They all had special cars that represented them. They all got inside their own respective cars except for Snake, he noticed in the mirror of his car DOOM’s car with DOOM inside it. Snake looked at him and DOOM noticed, he grinned and Snake turned around, getting in his car. Once inside he immediately called Gojo.
-”Gojo. What is DOOM doing here?” asked Snake. Gojo stood silent for a while.
-”He saw I bought the tickets and decided to join along with Peter..” replied Gojo.
-”Damn. This won’t be good...“ said Snake.
-”Ah, no, it’s fine! Trust me, I will handle them! You, Hope and Mizuki have fun!” responded Gojo. Snake looked at his phone and sighed.
-”Alright, good luck..” replied Snake before closing the call.
As the final contestants, the host of the race finally arrived as well.
-”LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THE RACE DAY YOU ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR FINALLY ARRIVED! THIS YEAR FULL OF NEW PEOPLE MEANING NEW CONTENT!” said the host. Snake looked up at the host who seemed to be none other than the infamous Cuddle Team Leader.
-”Well if that’s the host then nothing good will come out of this..” murmured Snake to himself.
-”I’m sure you are all excited to see me! I know, I’m the greatest. Anyway enough about me, more about the race! For this year’s competitions I thought why not make it more fun and more competitive! So I decided to snoop around and gathered a whole bunch of items! Obviously I won’t explain them to you, the audience will get bored and I will also get bored. Yadda yadda yadda, give me a yappucino, am I right or am I right? Without more distractions, all I can say is good luck! The first to reach the finish line after three laps wins. Also, remember to have fun!” said Cuddle Team Leader, before giving the signal to Omni Man, who was holding the starting flags.
-”Ramp up those engines, because it will surely get hot in here! The Race™ is gonna start in… 3. 2. 1…” said Cuddle Team Leader, before giving another signal to Omni Man, to which he lowered the flags. “Go! Go! Go!”
Everyone blasted through the starting line. Everything was going smoothly with all of the players focusing on staying in their spot. Mizuki was first and Hope immediately followed in second place. Snake was on fifth while Gojo was on eighth, making sure to keep both DOOM and Peter in the last two places. As they keep going Snake eventually gets a grappler as an item. He looked at it confused before figuring out how to use it. He grabbed on the first two players which were in front of him, helping him drift and catching up on Hope.
-”It’s nothing personal, Hope.” said Snake before using the grappler on her to get to second place. Mizuki noticed and used her cluster clinger to hopefully slow down Snake, but to no avail as Snake was coming in hot, getting past Mizuki too.
-”Told you I’m a professional racist.” said Snake as he passed Mizuki.
-”Oh, come on!” replied Mizuki, as she quickly activates her boost, coming in a close tie with Snake. Hope soon reached them too, making all three of them fight for the first place as they finished the first lap.
Meanwhile, Gojo kept distracting DOOM and Peter but soon DOOM caught up on Gojo.
-”DOOM has had enough of you. DOOM knows the only reason why you are here is to distract us from letting your little friends win. But this is money DOOM must recover. Out of the way, [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]!” said DOOM as he and Peter got past Gojo, using all their items to quickly reach fourth and fifth place, Gojo noticed and quickly caught up to them too. Gojo got an anvil rocket launcher from the item box, and quickly used it on DOOM’s car, crashing into him and pushing him towards a wall.
-”Oof! DOOM will make you pay for that, twink!” said DOOM, before Peter quickly pushed Gojo off. Gojo immediately drove to the fourth place making sure to keep up with the rest.
-”DOOM, I think it’s time we show this guy who we really are. Let’s kick him off and eliminate him for good.” said Peter, as he pulled out his cluster clinger, DOOM doing the same as him. They both threw them in such a way to break the road slightly, causing Gojo to lose control over his car and to fall off the edge. DOOM and Peter laughed, but before they knew it, Gojo grabbed both their cars with grapplers, making them both fall with him and getting the three of them eliminated. Snake looked behind and noticed, he quickly called Gojo with his codec, connecting Mizuki and Hope to the call.
-”Gojo! What the [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] did you do!?” asked Snake, Mizuki and Hope then noticed what had happened.
-”Oh God, Gojo!” said Hope.
-”I’m fine.. I just.. Crashed. I’ll be fine..” replied Gojo.
-”I’m sending in my team to rescue you along with whoever else fell with you.” said Hope, closing the call and quickly calling Jonesy.
-”Andddd, three in a row! Great job, racers!” shouted Cuddle Team Leader using a megaphone, pointing to the leaderboard. “Your jobs were to compete with each other, but brutally throwing off the stage is close enough!” Snake looked at the leaderboard, noticing Hope backed up slightly but Mizuki was still on his tail.
-”Just because Gojo fell, doesn’t mean I will give up on winning, Snake.” said Mizuki. Snake stayed silent, entering the third lap. They both started focusing, using all the items they were gaining against each other.
Behind all of them, there was none other than The Doom Slayer, who used his anvil rocket launcher to slow down Hope. Soon enough, he caught onto Snake and Mizuki, brutally crashing into them. Snake looked at the Doom Slayer shocked and backed out a bit. Leaving him and Mizuki to fight for the first place.
-”Magnificent play by The Slayer! This is getting tight! Who’s gonna win the race, I wonder?” said CTL, still using his megaphone. The Doom Slayer started pushing Mizuki against a wall brutally and Snake noticed so he immediately pushed the Doom Slayer aside. The Doom Slayer noticed and looked at Snake, he looked back at the Doom Slayer and gestured to him to take it slow a bit. The Doom Slayer calmed down and Snake let him take the second place. Mizuki noticed she was in first place and close to the finishing point and used her boost to quickly reach the finishing line, the Doom Slayer quickly followed in second place and Snake in third, leaving Hope in fourth.
-”WELL WELL THESE ARE SOME NICE SCORES! I’d like for all racers to set their cars aside so I can award them!” said CTL as he teleported on the side of the race. Mizuki and the Doom Slayer carefully set their cars next to CTL but Snake ignored him and drove to where Gojo, DOOM and Peter were. CTL noticed and looked at Mizuki confused.
-”Geez, what's his problem?” asked CTL, Mizuki shrugged.
-”I don’t know, probably mad for what DOOM did since you know he hates DOOM and cares about Gojo.” replied Mizuki.
-”Oh so he is [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]. I see.” said CTL.
-”For short, yeah.” replied Mizuki.
Snake quickly stopped and got out of the car, rushing to Gojo who was still coughing water.
-”Why do you act so dramatic? Ugh!” asked DOOM, annoyed, who closed his eyes and crossed his arms, only to wake up to the feeling of a heavy punch in his face from Snake. Peter gasped and DOOM looked at him annoyed.
-”Oh you have no idea how long I wanted for a good reason to punch your dumb ugly face armour.” said Snake. DOOM got mad at him and threw a punch but Snake quickly dodged it, causing his code to accidentally change form Fortnite to Super Smash Bros, making him glitch out. He noticed and quickly changed his code back.
-”Look at you, glitching out like the mistake you are. I wouldn’t be surprised if the only reason why you got third place was because you cheated.” replied DOOM, annoyed, Snake looked mad at him clenching his fists.
-”STOP FIGHTING!” said Gojo as he got between them, Snake looked at him.
-”Are you alright?” asked Snake.
-”Of course he is! Look at him standing and speaking!” replied DOOM to which both Gojo and Snake looked at him mad. Gojo sighed and looked back at Snake.
-”Yes, I’m alright, thank you for asking.” replied Gojo looking at Snake. Peter looked at DOOM and gestured to get to Gojo, DOOM nodded and they both walked up behind Gojo.
-”Well since the race is over I believe it’s time we spend some time with you, Gojo..” said Peter, placing his hand on Gojo’s shoulder, causing him to flinch slightly. Snake couldn’t help but feel a ping of anger mixed with jealousy.
-”Umm... Can’t it be later tho..?” asked Gojo.
-”Yeah, can’t you two stop acting like two overly controlling freaks and let him catch his breath!?” said Snake, angrily. Both Peter and DOOM looked annoyed at him but didn’t bother. DOOM moved closer to Gojo’s ear.
-”Darling, you promised me after the race that you will spend time with us.. Plus we still have a deal.” whispered DOOM, softly, in Gojo’s ear as he looked at Snake. Gojo sighed.
-”Fine.. We can go I guess..” said Gojo, looking away.
-”Good.” replied Peter.
-”Gojo, wait!” said Snake, Gojo looked at him.
-”When are you going to be back?” asked Snake. As Gojo wanted to reply, DOOM immediately cut him off.
-”When DOOM allows him. Let’s go now.” replied DOOM, Gojo sighed and nodded as they all three teleported away. Snake sighed annoyed before getting in his car and driving back to CTL. Once there he got out of the car and walked up to where Mizuki and Hope were.
-”Snake! You are back!” said Hope happily but then noticed his angry expression. “What happened? Where’s Gojo?” asked Hope.
-”He went away with DOOM and Peter.” replied Snake harshly before walking away to CTL who was talking with the Doom Slayer.
-”So I’m telling you, you need to start munching on mushrooms man they help-” said CTL who was immediately cut off by Snake who turned him around.
-”Where’s my prize?” asked Snake, CTL looked at him a bit scared before quickly handing him the v-bucks.
-”Thanks.” said Snake, letting go of CTL and teleporting away. Mizuki and Hope noticed and decided to teleport after him. They teleported in front of Gojo’s house and knocked at the door.
-”Snake, open the door.” said Mizuki, he opened it and looked at her, still frustrated.
-”What do you want?” asked Snake.
-”We want to help you..” replied Hope.
-”Yeah! Maybe we can cheer you up” said Mizuki. Snake looked at them before walking away in his room. Mizuki and Hope walked in, Hope looked around the house, inspecting it while Mizuki closed the door and walked in the living room. Hope was in the kitchen looking at the magnets on the fridge with all the pictures. Snake quietly walked up behind her.
-”Can you move? I need a beer.” said Snake, Hope immediately got scared and screamed.
-”Oh... sorry. You scared me.” replied Hope before moving out of the way, letting Snake get his beer. He then went into the living room, where he found Mizuki setting Uno cards. Hope followed behind him.
-”Uno..? Haven't played those in a long time, since I joined SSBB, to be exact.” murmured Snake.
-”So, are you going to play now?” asked Mizuki with a grin.
-”I love Uno!” said Hope joyfully.
-”I guess I’ll try. I remember Samus always beating my [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] at this.” said Snake, sitting in one spot where cards were and Hope in another spot.
-”Samus? Who was that?” asked Mizuki, curious.
-”Some woman in armour, I don't know exactly either. She's like The Slayer, but a woman.” described Snake while checking his cards.
-”Smash.” immediately said Mizuki, to which Hope looked at her weird. Snake took a sip of his beer and looked at her slightly disappointed, but shrugged it off. Mizuki started off and soon enough they all started playing. Throughout their rounds they all won fairly. Snake’s mood eventually changes, calming down enough to be able to think right. As he played his card he looked at Mizuki.
-”Mizuki, ... you know Gojo for a while now... I can’t help but need to ask you.. What do you know about him and DOOM..?” asked Snake, looking at her seriously. Mizuki looked at him a bit surprised.
-”Oh.. Hm.. He came after me, like one season later... At first I didn’t trust him. To be fair he was really agitated when I first met him too. He didn’t trust anyone or anything. But then I remember he changed.. He calmed down and seemed to act like a scared dog. DOOM was also constantly around him back then. He never told me about his relationship with DOOM but he always seemed to be scared of him and would do anything for him. I could say it felt like DOOM was owning him or he was something important to him... I became friends with Gojo soon after because I was the ruler back in the day and I helped him learn how Fortnite worked. He was so scared and he always refused to talk about his life before coming here.. Even now I don’t know anything about him besides the fact that he loved his students and was the strongest in his universe.” replied Mizuki as she finished last.
-”...hmm.. What do you know about DOOM?” asked Snake as he picked up all the cards and began shuffling them.
-”DOOM is indeed a mean guy, but hasn't always been this evil, even though he gives you that impression. He’s paranoid and always tries to be a perfectionist, this is why he covers his face. That's what I mostly learnt, since he used to have a huge castle and powers before they got vaulted, 4 years ago.” explained Mizuki picking up her cards.
-”I don’t know, seems like a crazy controlling guy to me..” said Hope.
-”Totally agree.” replied Snake.
-”You two are just mean.” said Mizuki who immediately got ugly stares from Hope and Snake. She rolled her eyes.
-”Ok, ok. Maybe he is a little bit controlling...“ said Mizuki.
-”Very, and weirdly desperate for Gojo, I mean what does he see in that guy anyway?” asked Snake. Mizuki and Hope looked at him surprised.
-”Why do you ask us? Aren’t you two gay and in love with each other?” asked Hope to which Snake looked at her shocked.
-”NO!? WHY WOULD YOU THINK THAT?” replied Snake.
-”JUST THIS MORNING YOU TWO ACTED LIKE TWO GAY DUDES!” said Mizuki, Snake looked at her confused and thought a bit.
-”...I did not mean it in that way. I hate Gojo. He is annoying and stupid and never shuts up.” replied Snake. Mizuki and Hope looked at each other.
-”You have to be kidding me. There’s no way you two aren’t gay.” said Mizuki.
-”Yeah! Like how can you hate that guy then live in the same house with him, eat breakfast together with him and act chill?” asked Hope.
-”..Like this? It’s called being roommates.” replied Snake.
-”But you said you hate him! You don’t even bother trying to make your own place, or at least try to ask someone to help you make a new house.” said Mizuki.
-”I can’t build. I don’t like to ask for help. Easy as that. Plus, he feeds me and gets me free stuff. Why would I want to move out?” replied Snake.
-”Ok. Fair. At least you didn’t see each other naked or something.” said Hope to which Snake smiled. Hope and Mizuki gasped.
-”YOU ARE GAY, YOUR [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] IS GAY! BUDDY, YOU AREN’T BEATING THE ALLEGATIONS!” said Mizuki as he grabbed him by his shoulders and shook him. Snake stopped her.
-”I’m not gay! Especially not for that guy... I hope not at least...“ murmured Snake as he looked away.
-”WHAT DO YOU MEAN HOPE!?” asked Mizuki.
-”I DON’T KNOW WHAT I MEAN, AND I DON’T KNOW WHAT HE MEANS EITHER!” replied Hope.
-”No, Hope. I didn’t mean it that way.” replied Mizuki.
-”Ah.” said Hope.
-”Anyway what do you mean you hope that you aren’t gay for him?” asked Mizuki, Snake looked at her then away.
-”Well, I hate the guy, don’t get me wrong, but it’s nice having someone cook your meals and buy you stuff. I just hope things won’t get further than casual roommates..” explained Snake.
-”Yeah, fair.” replied Mizuki.
-”Why would you think it would go further though?” asked Hope. Snake looked at her, and thought of his life back in Metal Gear Solid.
-”No reason... Nevermind that.” murmured Snake. Mizuki and Hope both raised their eyebrows looking at him suspiciously.
-”Why did it take you so long to answer?” asked Mizuki, Snake looked away.
-”I don’t want to elaborate.” replied Snake. The girls both sighed.
-”And here we thought something interesting was going to happen.” said Mizuki.
-”Yeah.. Well I guess not.” said Snake as he started playing Uno again. Mizuki and Hope noticed and began playing as well.
-”But what would you do if Gojo was into you?” asked Mizuki.
-”Be serious. If I couldn’t pull a single good looking lady, then there’s no way I can pull him. Only thing I can pull is the trigger.” replied Snake.
-”Are you implying he is prettier and better looking than women?” asked Mizuki with a grin.
-”No, I’m implying I’m out of his league. He is a man, I’m a man. He calls me a hobo as soon as I don’t wash, and would much rather I pull the trigger with the gun at his forehead than be with him.” replied Snake.
-”You don’t know that..” said Mizuki.
-”As if you’d know any better.” replied Snake looking at Mizuki who had a huge grin on her face. Snake looked at her quietly for a moment.
-”...You don’t know any better. RIGHT?” asked Snake. Mizuki bursted out laughing and Snake looked away awkwardly.
-”No no, I’m just messing with you. But yeah you are right, he does call you a hobo for not showering and acting like a total [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]].” replied Mizuki between chuckles.
-”Ah okay, good.” replied Snake as he won in Uno. Hope noticed.
-”Wait a minute! You didn’t say Uno!” said Hope.
-”You two were too busy trying to figure out whether or not me and Gojo are together, so I didn’t bother.” replied Snake.
-”Bastard!” said Hope before noticing Mizuki also finished.
-”NOT YOU TOO!” said Hope to which Mizuki chuckled and shrugged.
-”Well, Snake, I’m glad we could help. You seem in a better mood now and it’s also getting late.” said Mizuki as she stood up and picked her cards. Hope stood up as well.
-”Yeah yeah. Just say you two wanna [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]. Stop using excuses.” said Snake with a grin as he picked up his beer bottle then walked to the kitchen to throw it away.
-”THAT’S NOT TRUE!” said Mizuki, Snake came back and looked at her with a mocking grin.
-”I hate you.” replied Mizuki.
-”Yeah yeah, I get that a lot.” said Snake.
-”Anyways, me and Hope will go now, have a great night Snake” said Mizuki, walking up to Hope and holding her hand.
-”You too... oh and by the way... I’m bisexual.” said Snake right as Mizuki and Hope teleported away, causing them to only understand “I’m”. Snake then later got a bunch of texts from Mizuki all asking what he said. He ignored them and went to his room, he laid down on his bed and began thinking about the conversation he had with Mizuki and Hope.
-”Why did you take so long to respond?” “You have to be kidding, there's no way you two aren't gay.” “JUST THIS MORNING YOU TWO ACTED LIKE TWO GAY DUDES!” says the inner Mizuki inside Snake’s mind, clearly overgrown by tons of thoughts. He got frustrated and sat up, he looked at himself in the mirror.
-”There’s no way I like that [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]], he is [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]! And I’m sure he isn’t over that Suguru guy. Ugh, Mizuki and Hope are so annoying when they talk about this.” said Snake to himself as he laid back on the bed. He closed his eyes trying to think of something else but as soon as he did that, he got teleported to a white room. Confused, he got up and looked around.
-”Calm down, Snake. This is just the training room.” said Midas, showing up behind him.
-”Maybe a little warning wouldn’t hurt anyone..” replied Snake.
-”With you that deep into your existential crisis I doubt anything would’ve got you out of that.” said Midas, turning around. Snake looked away awkwardly. Midas snapped his fingers, causing Snake to automatically change in his regular outfit.
-”Snake, I'd like to introduce you to my team.” said Midas, before snapping his fingers and along appearing Meowscles, TNTina, Brutus, Skye, Maya and Agent Peely.
-”I believe you’ve already met Meowscles. Allow me to introduce you to the rest of them. This is TNTina.” said Midas, pointing at TNTina.
-”She is the best at weaponry, explosions and rockets. If in the near future you will need special weapons you can count on her.” explained Midas, TNTina smiled and waved at Snake.
-”This is Brutus, former agent and bodyguard. Best at combat skills on the team. It’s best if you work with him on your fighting skills.” said Midas as he pointed at Brutus.
-”The young girl is Skye, she is best at travelling and adapting to new lands. If you ever encounter problems in new areas, you can always ask her.” explained Midas.
-”That is Maya, she is great at making equipment and gear, so in case your costume ever needs updates for new missions, you can count on her.” explained Midas.
-”And the last one is Agent Peely. One of the best agents for stealth missions. I know you and him will definitely get along well.” said Midas.
-”Great.” said Snake.
-”Well then, Snake. Welcome to our team!” said Midas.
-”Thanks. When do I leave the game?” asked Snake.
-”Ah, Snake, always so impatient. We still need to test your skills!” said Midas as he gently placed his hand on Snake’s shoulder but Snake flinched and quickly turned around, pushing Midas off.
-”Ah. Good, seems like your instincts are working and the adrenaline must be kicking in.” said Midas, Snake looked at him confused.
-”What do you mean?” asked Snake, feeling somewhat uneasy.
-”I altered your code a bit so that every time you come here your adrenaline automatically rises.” explained Midas. “Well anyway, enough talking. Everyone, go back, Meowscles. You will handle Snake in combat.” said Midas before teleporting away along with everyone else. Snake immediately pulled his Socom pistol out and began shooting Meowscles. Meowscles ran and quickly changed the area into a forest. Snake quickly took cover and hid, looking for Meowscles. Before he knew it the giant cat began using its Peow Peow Rifle, shooting anywhere he could see, even at Snake’s location. Once it found Snake, the cat began shooting only in his direction, Snake began shooting towards the cat’s way too, aiming for the head almost always. He eventually hid again and Meowscles lost him. Snake knew the cat had lost him and used this in his advantage, quickly sneaking up behind the cat. He switched from Fortnite to Metal Gear Solid coding, causing him to glitch before performing a chokehold, knocking Meowscles out. Midas noticed the switch in his code and grinned.
-”This will be fun.” murmured Midas to himself before sending everyone else in.
Snake looked around, noticing everyone being teleported in at once. He looked at where Midas stood, miserable, before everyone jumped him. Snake threw a smoke bomb and quickly hid, switching his weapon in his inventory. He pulled out his sniper and looked around at everyone, noticing that TNTina stood still he took the shot and immediately knocked her down. Maya quickly noticed where he shot from and threw a boogie bomb at him, causing him to glitch and change back to his Fortnite code, making him dance. Brutus noticed and pulled out his Minigun, the first shot immediately turned off the effect and Snake switched back to his MGS code. Using another smoke grenade to hide. Snake took some pentazemin to help him calm down a bit and make his aim more accurate. Once he found a decent hiding spot, he looked through the sniper scope again, quickly shooting Brutus, he quickly switched his weapons, causing them to automatically reload and shoot Maya before she could react. Before he knew it though, Agent Peely came from behind, assassinating him and lowering his health drastically. Snake panicked and quickly got up, pulling his gun out to shoot Peely but the banana pushed the gun away, giving Snake the opportunity to pull out the Socom with his other hand and shoot him in the head, knocking the banana out as well. Snake looked around and wondered where the last girl was but before he knew it, she was falling down ready to hit him in the head. Snake brutally switched his code to the SSBB, performing a quick dodge only to fall to the ground due to him glitching really badly. He could feel his code bugging out really badly, causing him to scream in pain. His health bar changed from a 1HP to a 999%. Skye looked at where Midas was worried so Midas teleported down at her. Snake looked at where Midas was and out of fear he forcefully got up, despite still glitching and shot Skye multiple times with his Socom, causing her to start lagging but eventually getting knocked down. Midas noticed and looked at Snake with a grin. He noticed how due to the uncontrollable glitching his MGS health bar went from 1hp to full. Snake stopped glitching and started breathing heavily, occasionally coughing and making him bug out a bit.
-”Why did you take this challenge so serious, Snake?” asked Midas.
-”To prove to you that I’m ready for no matter what’s ahead.” replied Snake to which Midas laughed.
-”Oh, this is what I love about you, AIs with souls. You always have a lingering feeling or goal you aspire to achieve.. It’s funny. But at the end of the day.. you are just a soul, stuck between a bunch of 0s and 1s, easy to manipulate.” said Midas, as he easily revived everyone and pulled golden chains from the ground, grabbing onto Snake’s wrists and legs, holding him still. Everyone walked up to Snake slowly pulling their weapons out and using them all together at the same time. Snake screamed in pain, trying to break free from the chains but failing as he got shot by everyone.
-”What about now, Snake? What are you going to do in this situation? Make me waste my time, watching you lose your life over something you can’t do! You are weak, Snake! You will never leave this place!” said Midas with a grin. Snake couldn’t help but feel irritated by Midas’ words. He couldn’t help but also remember the words DOOM has told him throughout his time here. He screamed louder from anger as he quickly kept switching between his codes, glitching out of the chains and causing everyone to lag and bug out, knocking all of them back. Snake fell to the ground and coughed. This time coughing blood that seemed to be glitching out, he fell to the side as he struggled to catch his breath. Midas grinned and walked up to him.
-”You are smarter than I anticipated, I have to admit, I did not think you’d be able to pull that off. Maybe you are ready for what is ahead. After all, you aren’t just a program, you are a soul, driven by motivations and emotions.” said Midas, Snake looked up at him.
-”Now get up, we need to stabilise your code, you broke too many programs with that and I don’t want you bugging out and turning into an error monster. I still need to use you!” said Midas, Snake grunted but slowly got up. Midas snapped his fingers and Meowscles grabbed Snake. Midas snapped his fingers again and teleported them in what seemed like a lab room. Meowscles placed Snake on the bed and cut his costume on his chest, enough for Midas to be able to reach his soul. Snake knew what was going to happen and started panicking, causing him to glitch worse than before. Midas noticed and placed his hand on his chest, pinning him down to the bed, entering with his whole hand in Snake’s chest. Midas quickly pulled out his code, quickly looking through it and fixing all the mixed codes. He placed it back and pulled his hand out.
-”Geez, you are awful when it comes to looking through your code. ... Not to mention, your mind or soul...“ said Midas, Snake looked at him, feeling extremely dizzy.
-”Well, enough for one night I suppose. Next time, I will send you to an actual game!” said Midas, before immediately teleporting Snake back to his bedroom. Snake was breathing heavily and sweating, struggling to calm down. He could still feel the pain from glitching and Midas’ hand, his breath quickened as he started getting agitated. Soon enough though, he heard the front door opening, he couldn’t move but assumed it was Gojo. Gojo looked around the house, noticing how quiet it was, he walked up to Snake’s bedroom and knocked at the door.
-”Hey buddy.. Are you awake..? Probably not..” murmured Gojo. Snake heard him but failed to say anything as he was struggling to breathe, instead, he gasped for air.
-”Sorry about today.. I really hoped it was going to be the 4 of us.. Haha.. hope.. ... Anyway... I’m sorry.. DOOM noticed and got mad at me.. He always wants me for himself... but only to use me..” said Gojo, leaning his head against the door. Snake listened to his voice, slowly calming down, knowing that he isn’t alone.
-”Thank you.. For standing up for me today... but please don’t do that again.. You shouldn’t worry about me... I know you are going to leave me one day.. Don’t make it any worse for me. ... I know you are asleep.. But just know.. There’s more going on between me and DOOM than meets the eye. Just. ... Stop getting involved.. You make me hopeful for something that won’t happen.” said Gojo. Snake looked at the door.
-”You make me feel cared for.. Like I matter. But I know this is stupid. You just sugar coat it for me to use me. ... You are a ‘Snake’ after all.. and just like DOOM said.. I can’t ... like... a Snake. They are poisonous. You leaving will feel like a bite in the [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]]. And I don’t need that. ... Snake, ... I wish I could know more about you, but I’m not allowed. I can’t like anyone. I’m not allowed to. I’m not allowed to care about anyone except DOOM. ... I wish I had the freedom you and the rest have.” murmured Gojo, Snake looked at the door shocked.
-”Enough of my [[HYPERLINK BLOCKED]] rant. I should stop talking before I wake you up.. Good night, Snake..” said Gojo before walking away. Snake sat up and looked at the door.
-”Free? What do you mean free?” whispered Snake to himself. He pulled out his phone and immediately went to text Mizuki but then thought for a moment and immediately closed his phone again. He didn’t know who to trust about this so he thought the best way was to figure it out himself, one way or another. He quickly changed his clothes and sat down in bed, pulling out a cigarette and smoking in order to calm down. Snake thought for a while and the only thought he had figured out is that DOOM and Gojo’s relationship is more of a deal than an actual relationship. He thought for a bit and figured out this is the reason why he must be acting all happy and excited when he hangs out with other people.
-”Yes, I’m a genius! Gojo doesn’t love just me, he loves everyone! This will prove Mizuki that she was wrong about us being gay!” murmured Snake to himself proudly before finishing his cigarette and putting it in the ashtray. He laid down in bed, looking up at the ceiling, proud of his discovery. He exhaled and tried to relax, causing him to eventually fall asleep.
