Chapter 20: Rushes

After several weeks, Amir was able to remove the sling from his arm, and his shoulder was finally healed. By the lockers he and Jaylen were chatting about what he was going to do about football.

Jaylen: Are you coming back to play?

Amir: Man honestly I think i'm done.

Jaylen: Done with football?

Amir: Yeah these past weeks of recovering taught me the game, it's just not for me anymore. For our senior year I will probably come back. But I don't know yet.

Jaylen: Damn that's crazy but I understand. What are you going to do now?

Amir: Probably just focus on school and playing the game.

Jaylen: That's wassup bro.

Both Savani and Zarielle walked over to the boys.

Zari: Heyy boys.

Amir: Yoo.

Jaylen: (puts his arm around her shoulder) Wassup bae and vani.

Savani: Hey.

Zari: What were you two talking about?

Jaylen: Mir said he won't be coming back to football for right now.

Savani: Wait, really?

Amir: Yeah.

Zari: Oh wow that's huge.

The school bell rings.

Jaylen: That's our cue. Alright bro I'll see you later (daps him up).

Amir: Ight bet.

Zari: Bye yall (walks away with Jaylen)

Savani: Byee.

Amir: I'll walk you to class.

Savani: Okay.

After finishing her school work, Savani sits at her desk and plays with her rings on her hands, while thinking about all the things she has on her mind. Beside her, her friend Nasir saw her and said something.

Nasir: You good savani?

Savani: Yeah, I just got a lot going through my mind right now.

Nasir: Is it Amir because I saw him walk you to class.

Savani: Maybe...

Nasir: I'm still surprised you two haven't made it official the way you two be looking at each other. (laughs)

Savani: Oh shut up.

Nasir: Just saying, you need to tell him you're ready.

Savani: (deep sighs) Do you think I would make a mistake?

Nasir: Noo I think you are just overthinking it.

Savani: I'm just scared I might get hurt.

Nasir: You won't that boy loves you i see it. Go after what you want, you got this!

Savani: Thank you Nasir.

Nasir: Anytime just make sure you fill me in with the tea when you do it.

Both of them crack a laugh.
