Come To Me (Kyuwook Fic)

Chapter 23

Ryeowook was alone now. And Kibum was sitting alone nearby, bent studiously over a thick book. This is my chance. Ryeowook thought, nervously, he slowly sat down beside Kibum, "Hey, Kibummie." 

"Hey Wook - Ryeowook." Kibum said coldly, not looking up from his book. 

"How have you been?" How do I approach such a sensitive topic?

"Fine." Missing you. 

"Kibummie, do you wanna go to Yunho's with me and Kyuhyun today?" Kibum deserved to be told straight forwardly that Kyuhyun would be there. 

"No thanks, I have to study." 

"You can study there like you used to!" Ryeowook said shrilly. 

"No thanks. It's too noisy." 

"Kibummie, please, I need you." Ryeowook was begging, he needed his best friend back. He couldn't stand to see Kibum with other people while ignoring him. It hurt too much, every time he saw Kibum he felt like crying. Sometimes, when fights break people apart, they never get together again. So many beautiful friendships could be ruined just because of a small fight, and it made your heart hurt. 

Right now, both Kibum and Ryeowook were hurting, but neither really knew how to fix it. But now Ryeowook had decided that he would not let his friendship with Kibum go that easily. "I need you Kibummie, I don't want everything to be ruined again. I don't want to never talk to you again. I can't bear it if we're like this forever, or even if we're friends. I need us to be best friends the way we used to." the words came tumbling out of Ryeowook's mouth, while his mind was clouded with worry about being so honest. 

Kibum studied him. Ryeowook held his breath, "I don't know if I can." 

"Of course we can." Ryeowook pleaded. 

"I don't know if we can just go back to being like that after what happened." Kibum said in a final tone. 

"Kibummie." Ryeowook whispered, "I love you. I understand if it will take time for our friendship to heal. I can wait. Just please - " 

Ryeowook had never been so straight forward before. He never told anyone the deep thoughts running inside his head. 

"Ryeowook!" Kyuhyun called, running towards his boyfriend, "Oh - hey Kibummie." 

If Kibum was considering saying yes to Ryeowook before, seeing Kyuhyun definitely made him change his mind, "No, Ryeowook, I'm sorry." he said in a snappish tone as he snapped his book shut. "I'm going now, bye." 

"Kibum!" 

This time it was Kyuhyun. 

"We need to have a talk."

"You took Ryeowook away from me." 

"He never liked you like that anyway." 

Accusations flew back and forth. 

"Come back to Ryeowook as his best friend, he needs you. He's miserable without you." 

"I thought he was fine with just you." Kibum said coldly.

"A boyfriend is never enough. Everyone needs a best friend too." 

Kibum paused, considering this, "Does he really miss me?" 

"He's depressed. He isn't happy like he was. He never is anymore." Kyuhyun informed him. He had to get Kibum back for Ryeowook, to make Ryeowook happy, and to mend the friendship he had broken.

"I don't know if I can just act the same way around him anymore. Things have changed." 

"They have." Kyuhyun agreed, "But they can change again. And this time, for the better." 

"You know I still have feelings for Ryeowook?" 

"And you know that I won't give him up? But let's try to put this aside - " 

"You mean put my feelings for Wook aside," Kibum interrupted sourly. 

"Let's be friends Kibum, maybe .... " Kyuhyun hesitated to say the next sentence. But Kibum knew what he was thinking. 

"Maybe I'll find someone else? Maybe." Kibum agreed humorlessly, "But unlikely." 

"Me and Wook are together now, you have to respect that." 

"I do respect that, that's why I left." 

"But he needs you, please, Kibum. Don't be selfish, think of Ryeowook. How much he has to go through." 

Kibum tilted his head, the angle made him look more handsome than ever. "You're right." he said finally, breaking the silence, "Ryeowook has enough troubles without this. I should go back to helping him." 

"So ... so you'll come back?" Kyuhyun nearly broke into a sweat in anticipation. 

"Ryeowook!" Kibum ran to where Ryeowook was waiting for them. Heart pumping and panicking, Kyuhyun ran after him. What was Kibum up to?" 

"Ryeowook, let's go to Yunho's. It's time for work." Kibum gave his best friend a winning smile. 

Ryeowook lifted his head and smiled right back.
