"What should I do now?" Ning Cheng asked urgently. More than ten robbers held over thirty hostages in Jiangcheng Bank. How could this rescue possibly succeed?

"Whatever you need, I'll do my best!"

Zhou Ziyan took a deep breath. "You're needed, Ning Cheng, but not yet. This rescue is urgent and dangerous; you can't do it alone. Captain Li Gang is in charge. Come with me."

Zhou Ziyan led Ning Cheng to Li Gang, the armed police squadron captain—the same man who'd been in charge during the IFC hostage rescue.

"Ning Cheng, thanks for coming," Li Gang said, shaking his hand. "I'm glad you're here."

"It's my duty," Ning Cheng replied. "What can I do? Negotiate?"

"Negotiations are necessary, but not now. First, we need information." Li Gang handed Ning Cheng a file. "This is on the gang inside. Study it. We can't fight unprepared."

Li Gang continued, "We got a call from a bank insider. At least a dozen robbers. The insider who called was later found shot dead. We've surrounded the bank and gathered intel. This gang is fragmented—mostly wanted criminals, each with a body count. Their boss is..." Li Gang pointed to a photo in the file, "...this unremarkable man."

Li Gang took a breath. "Liu Hailong. He killed his wife and her lover. Two lives, not a huge number, but he's clever. He's controlled killings remotely; sixteen deaths, though he didn't pull the trigger himself."

Ning Cheng examined Liu Hailong's profile. No military or bodyguard experience. A former financial executive. His wife's affair led him down a desperate path. He'd evaded capture for seven years, building and losing gangs multiple times, showcasing his cunning.

Ning Cheng's face grew serious. Liu Hailong was physically unremarkable. Yet he'd controlled vicious criminals, proving his managerial skill and intelligence.
