Cecilia's POV
Beep, Beep, Beep
Monday morning.
Probably the second most painful thing in the world after stepping on a single leggo.
I turn my attention to the beeping disaster on my bedside table. I groan at the time it reads. 7 am. I only had four hours of sleep since I got home after 3 am from the bar.
I shut off the device sent from hell before I do a gravity check from my bed.
I don't fall, I do gravity checks every once in a while. Yup, it still works very well!
I stand up from my successful gravity check and make my way to the bathroom to do my morning routine. Then, I get dressed in my usual ripped black skinny jeans with a white Green Day t-shirt and my favourite red and white flannel.
I grab my black combat boots as I make my way downstairs and into the garage which is also my dad's car service.
"Good morning, Cecilia!" I'm greeted by my dad who is working on a car. I don't see Caleb anywhere so he must be still asleep or dying from a hangover, he likes to spend a lot of time at the bar I work at.
"Good morning! I'm going to go see gran at her café." I told dad as I start walking towards my car.
"Okay, but don't stay too long because you have work to do and I know how you can chat the time away with gran and Lily."
"Okay, bye!" I call over my shoulder as I get in my grey Dodge Challenger SRT8.
While I wait for the automatic garage doors to open, I rev the engine which is music to my ears.
Once the doors are completely open, I reverse backwards and head onto the streets at a high speed.
Gran's café isn't too far but I haven't driven my baby in a while.
I smile at the memory of getting this car, well this car's wreck.
For my 17th birthday, dad brought me to a car crusher place near by and told me to choose any car I want (obviously not a crushed one). After 2 hours of searching I found the wreck of a Dodge Challenger SRT8, I honestly wanted to cry. We bought it, brought it home and I worked on it for hours everyday for over a year. I worked at gran's café to earn money for the parts I needed. By the time of my high school graduation, my car looked as good as new. I did get a lot of help from dad and Caleb, they gave me advises and coffee whenever I needed it.
Caleb also got to save a car from the car crusher and fix it up for his 17th birthday, it's a tradition of the Adams family. Caleb has a blue Nissan Skyline GTR R34 and it is a beast!
After 10 minutes I see my gran's café. I find a parking space and hop out of the car making sure to lock it.
I walk into the café seeing many familiar faces. I love going to gran's café, it's not big but has a friendly and cosy atmosphere. I look for gran to see her occupied with a customer so I go to my usual seat by the back window in the corner to wait for her.
My grandmother, my dad's mother is the only other family member who is still alive and I know of. Grandad passed away five years ago and dad is an only child so there is no uncles, aunts or cousins from his side. I never knew my mom or her family too well as she passed away when I was three years old. The last time dad saw her family was at her funeral.
I smile as I greet Lily who is also busy at the moment, she works for gran. Lily Greene is my best friend, well my only friend. We are both very anti-social and we have known each other since we were in play school. We lived through hell together in high school and she also went to the local community college like me but she studied graphic design and technical graphics while I studied mechanical engineering like my brother.
I look to my left to see gran walking towards me with a big smile on her face. She sits down in front of me and places my favourite double chocolate chip muffin in front of me with a hot cup of vanilla latte.
I thank her and dig in while she scolds me for not visiting her often enough. Then she starts of a casual conversation.
"So, The Championships are starting soon. Are you planning on entering?" gran asks, looking a bit worried.
"I would love to but I don't think dad would like it." I frown. I have wanted to enter since I was a kid but dad and gran were never too fond of the idea.
"He's just worried about you. That poor boy Chase Rider is the living example why, if you had children you would understand the constant worry of a parent." gran points out.
"Gran, I'm not even ready for love so let's not talk about having children. I haven't even lived yet!"
"The exact words your father spoke before he met your mother and had two beautiful children." gran smiled and continued "One can never be ready for love, it comes at the most unexpected times and sometimes goes at the most unexpected times. Love is whatever you want it to be, it could make one a better person and break another, it could be the most magical thing to ever happen to you or something you regret. When it comes to love always expect the unexpected."
This is what I really love about gran, she always makes me think.
"Oh dear, I better go now before the customers start to complain but Lily will keep you company!" and with that she went back to talking to customers.
"Hey Cecilia!" Lily greets
"Hey Lily"
"So how is your brother?" she asks shyly.
Did I forget to mention that Lily had the biggest crush on my brother since high school? It's kind of weird but I'm okay with it. It's obvious that Caleb also really likes Lily but they are both idiots so they don't do anything about it.
"He's fine." I say while laughing at her.
I stayed for another half an hour to talk to Lily while I finished my Latte and then said my good byes to her and gran.
I look at the time to see it's almost 10 am. At least dad can't scold me for taking too long.
I unlock the doors to my baby and hop in then I make my way home.
Once I get home, I park in the garage and leave the garage doors open.
I see dad still working on the car and greet him.
"Hey dad"
"Hey how's gran?" he asks.
"She's fine, busy as always."
"That's good, do you mind looking over the paper work on the table? Its mainly order forms and storage stuff."
"Sure." I reply as Caleb comes stumbling into the garage with a hot mug of coffee in his hand, obviously hung over. I can't help but laugh at the pained look on his face.
"Stop laughing, it's not funny." he grumbles as he sits on a stool holding his head with his free hand.
"It's funny from were I'm standing." I say as I continue laughing.
After my laughter dies down, I go back to the paper work but my attention is cut short again thanks to the beautiful sound of an engine revving. I look over and see that its's not dad, he is as confused as I am.
I turn around to see a 67' Mustang Shelby GT500 pulling into the garage beside my car. Am I dreaming? Someone pinch me.
I am even more surprised to see who steps out of the car...
