Chapter Thirty-Family
Draco had been sentenced to stay in the infirmary overnight, leaving me alone for the night. Madame Pomfrey had kicked me out an hour before curfew, claiming Draco needed more rest. I was wandering aimlessly through the hallways, trying to clear my head.
"Elora!" I heard a slightly dorky voice call, causing me to turn and see Neville jogging towards me.
"Hello, Neville," I smiled. I was never bothered by his company, in fact I rather enjoyed it, "Would you like to take a walk with me?"
"Sure. Do you want to go to the lake?" Neville suggests, walking beside me. I simply nod as we continue down our path. We share simple stories, finally catching up with one another. We sat beside the lake, a chilling silence fall Ming upon us, "I heard about Draco, by the way. I'm sorry."
"It's alright. It was none of your doing. It's just hard to see him like that," I sigh, running a hand through my hair.
"I understand. My parents are in St. Mungo's, that's why I stay with my grandmother," Neville explains, I stare at him egging him to go on. I had never heard Neville talk about his parents before, "They were tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. They don't even remember their own son."
"I'm so sorry, Neville," I say, sorrow filling my heart. My parents were dead, one at the hand of Bellatrix Lestrange herself, but that did not compare to what Neville must have felt.
"It'll be okay. I know I'll make them proud one day," he says, filled with hope as his smile grows.
"I know you will, Neville. I hope I can do the same,"

I was walking to the Slytherin common room as curfew drew near. First years were scurrying along, in great fear of Filch and his godforsaken cat, but older students still lingered back. I was all alone when something grabbed at me, my mouth was completely covered as I struggled against the body. I wasn't going to let my life go to ruins again. I was pulled into a farther, empty corridor. I finally got the chance to elbow them in what I believed was the gut, causing them to hunch over in pain. I tear myself away and arm myself with my arm, but I saw nothing, yet I heard sounds of pain.
"Jesus, Elora, was that really necessary?" Harry groaned as his Invisibility Cloak fell off him.
"What do you want, Potter? Came here to interrogate me now too?" I snarl, anger rushing through my veins.
"No, I came to apologize, you can put your bloody wand down," Harry said, finally standing up straight.
"I'm not the person you should be apologizing to," I say, crossing my arms with an expectant look on my face.
"You're probably right, but I feel like I should apologize to you too,"he shrugs, gazing at the floor. I sigh, sitting along by one of the dark windows. The night was as dark as ever, the moon hiding behind the trees, and the stars beginning to lose their sparkle.
"Go on then," I just mumble, trying to keep my walls up. Harry sat besides me, staring at the wall across from us.
"I didn't know what the spell could do. I was stupid for using it. I shouldn't have confronted Malfoy like that anyways, he was already in a bad place," Harry says, running his hands through his hair. He was distressed about what happened.
"You need to get rid of that book, Harry. He could have died," I whisper finally letting the words escape my lips. I had to admit what happened. I had to let my worst fear out into the thin air.
"You think I don't know that?" Harry snapped, standing back up.He took a puff of air and then sat back down again, "I'm sorry."
"I know you're angry, Harry. Life has been unfair to you, it truly has, but I've suffered loss, too. I just don't want the boy I love to be added to that list," I explain as carefully as I can. Harry winced, it was clear that he wasn't happy about my relationship with Draco. I was starting to believe no one was.
"I get it, I hope you can forgive me," Harry says, standing up and dusting off his Invisibility Cloak. I had no idea how much time had passed, but I knew it was well over curfew now.
"I can. One of my uncles told me to always appreciate my family," I tell him, pulling him in a hug. It was tiring, being mad all the time.
"You know, Hermione is sorry, about what happened last year. She feels guilty about everything," he said as we let go.
"You know, I have this thing about apologies. Only apologize for what you did wrong and make sure it's for the right person and right reason," I state as we let go, shrugging as if it was no big deal.
"I'd still talk to her if I were you," Harry replied before tossing his cloak back on. I turn back and finally return to the Slytherin common room, mentally preparing myself for the dreams that would haunt my sleep.
