Chapter Twenty-Nine-Bathroom Trouble

Many days passed, and the excitement of Hogwarts had yet to die down. Rumor had gotten out that Ron had been under the influence of a love spell and somehow almost died on the same night. Not much was a surprise to me anymore, but a lot of students were getting hurt and no one knew how.

It was a dreary day in the castle. It seemed as if everyone was much more down than usual. Katie Bell had just recovered from being cursed and tortured, but the person to cause the damage was unknown. I was sitting with Draco in the Great Hall, but we shared no words. He has an arm around my shoulder as I continued to read and work on my potions studies. There was no laughter filling the dining room. There were just small clumps at each house's table. I could see Ron, Hermione, and Harry chatting at the Gryffindor table. Harry kept flipping through an old potions text book, but I had no clue why. It was so beaten up it looked as if it was about to fall apart. I shook away my thoughts so I could focus on the work in front of me. I needed to get my grades up in potions. I found it hard to adjust to the new professor, and my grades were suffering more than usual. I was unaware of what was going on when Draco's arm has slipped away and my back hit the table. Katie Bell was at one end of the hallway while Draco was at the other, Harry in the middle of them both. Draco quickly bolts out and Harry follows suit. Draco had looked more sickly pale than usual,so instantly jumped to go after them, but Hermione tries to stop me.

"Elora, don't. He's a bad person," Hermione says while grabbing my arm. Our relationship was on somewhat better terms, but that didn't change much.

"That's a matter of opinion," I snarl before ripping my arm from her hand. I stalk out the door where I catch a glimpse of Harry escaping to the boys bathroom. My pace picks up into a quick run so I can slip in before the door closes. My heart breaks as I hear Draco's sobs as he grasps the sink. I want to scoop him up in a hug right then and there, but I keep my distance between the two boys.

"I know what you did, Malfoy," Harry finally speaks up, "you hexed her didn't you?"

I'm in a state of shock when Draco pulls his wand as an act of defense and casts a spell at Harry. Harry casts one back and runs towards the stall. I retreat to the farthest end of the sinks and watch as they fight. Draco isn't as prepared as he normally is. He's shaky, he's actually scared.

"Sectumsempra!" Harry casts and Draco flies backwards to my horror. He's laying in the middle of the stone floor as it floods around him. Blood oozes from his chest and I cover my mouth in horror. Snape enters without realizing I'm there and his robes stick to the wet floor as he sweeps over to Draco. Snape stares at Harry in shock and Harry reciprocates the action. Harry starts to stumble out when he bumps into me. I just stare at him. My breathing was ragged and there were tears welling in my eyes. I could feel my chest rise with betrayal and anger, but he ran out before I could say something. Snape looks at me when he hears the noise, but quickly diverts his attention back to Draco. He mutters a counter active spell as I run over to my love who was sobbing on the floor in pain. I slid onto my knees and gently placed his head in my lap.

"It's alright, my love. I'm here. It's okay. You're gonna be okay," I try to let out a laugh to lighten the mood but I felt pained as I did so. There were tears streaming down both of our faces and all I could do was try to calm Draco by patting his hair down and whispering sweet nothings as if we were the only two in the room. My heart ached for the boy who fixed me as I watched him break in the palm of my hands.

Although Professor Snape had healed Draco of all his cuts, he was still sent to the infirmary. I had skipped all my classes that day, sitting beside Draco and holding his hand as he slept all the pain away. I didn't move an inch until someone came up behind me.

"Ms. Granger, I noticed your absence today in Defense Against the Dark Arts," Snape said eerily.

"Well, sir, there has been a dramatic turn of events if you forgotten," I snap and turn to look at him, but not taking my hand away from Draco's.

"You truly are your fathers daughter. Staying with what isn't good for you at all," he grumbled to himself, but I completely heard him.

"How dare you talk about my mother and father like that?" I seethe, finally standing up to face him, "You're no better than my mother. You could have done everything on your own, but you had to drag her into this mess."

"It wasn't my decision," Snape snapped, "You can't possibly be proud of either of them. You don't even go by your true name."

"Maybe it's because I know how to keep myself out of your world," I properly yell at him. Snape had no place to speak about this. None at all. I was ready to say more when I heard Draco shift around in his bed. I returned to my spot beside him as he groggily woke up, holding his hand tighter than before.

"Someone's finally up," I smiled softly before turning to back to Snape. I just shake my head and turn back to Draco, giving him my full and undivided attention.
