Chapter Fourteen-Catch Me, I'm Falling
Christmas holiday was just around the corner, and I was slightly starting to dread it. When I agreed to go to Sirius' for Christmas, I had forgotten that I would be stuck alone in a room with Hermione every night. That's assuming she's willing to put up with me. To be honest though, that wasn't very likely. I was also worried about what the others would think of me. Some Gryffindor's were very prone to cut ties with anyone who let alone talks to Draco Malfoy.
Draco was constantly my one sense of relief. Many people looked at him with fear screaming in their eyes, but I knew mine screamed with happiness. I could finally breathe again. The nightmares stopped invading mine and things began to look up.
The weekend before Christmas break should be very stressful, but Draco and I were lazing around my room. I was refusing to touch any of my schoolwork. Trying to adjust to the school year was harder than normal, but I needed to relax.
"What do you keep in that mysterious journal of yours? It's always by your side. It must be full of secrets," Draco teased, playing with my free hand.
"You might be right," I joke, "but it really is full of anything. I'm just writing right now."
"Can you read some of it for me?" he pleaded with a small pout. I stare at him for a moment, getting lost in his eyes before deciding.
"Falling can be scary.
The air whips through my hair
As the branches decorate my arms with fresh cuts,
And the leaves scar my face.
Falling can be scary.
The impact can be harsh,
but it's worth it knowing I'll land in your arms,"
"That was wonderful, my love. Seriously. I wish to hear more of your work," Draco said, completely in shock.
"Maybe another time," I insist, "One is enough for right now."
Draco sat up, directly across from me. He peered into my eyes. I noticed how his eyes looked more like an icy blue compared to their silvery-gray. It was completely silent. I couldn't process anything as I focused on the boy in front of me.
"You know, I wanted to make your first kiss special. A moment you would never forget, but staring at you right now, it's so hard to stop myself," he whispers, slightly leaning in.
"Trust me, I don't think I could ever forget this," I breathe gently, giving him confirmation. I lean in as well when Draco tenderly places a hand on my cheek. He uses his hand to pull me in closer, and connects our lips. It feels better than I could ever imagine. His lips were smooth against my normally chapped lips. The taste of vanilla transferred to me as he nudged his lips against mine, causing me to reciprocate the action. I was enjoying the action, but I had to pull away in need of air.
"What'd you think about that?" Draco asked cheekily as I caught my breath.
"I think you use quite a bit of lip balm, Mr. Malfoy,"

Christmas holiday had fallen upon us with a tragedy. I had been woken up early in the morning to Professor Snape ruthlessly knocking on my door. He came to inform me that Mr. Weasley had been attacked in the Ministry of Magic late last night. I truly did hope he was okay, but I wasn't heartbroken for I had never met the man. I was now sat in the train car with Draco on the way to King's Cross station.
"I still can't believe you have to spend your Christmas those Weasels," Draco grumbled in annoyance as my head rested on his shoulder.
"It's alright, I think I need to take some time a way from Hogwarts," I remind him, "Anyways, I have a present for you."
"A present? For me? We haven't even been dating for a week," he responded, somewhat stunned, "Good thing I have one for you as well."
"How sneaky of you, Mr. Malfoy," I joke while rummaging for my gift to him.
"Only the best for you, my love," he chimed from where he was. He pulled a small, green velvet box from his pocket, "Here."
"This is for you as well," I say, handing him a wrapped frame containing the drawing I had sketched of him. It took me one long night to finish it, but it was very well worth it.
"I want you to open yours first," Draco requested, "It has a bit of a story behind it."
"Do tell," I say as I lift the lid open. Inside was a solid gold necklace with a gold snitch charm that connected to the chain by the wings, "Oh my, Draco, it's beautiful."
"I was thinking of the poem you read to me. As you know, I play a seeker for the Slytherin team, and my job is to catch the snitch. You're my snitch, Elora, and I want you to know that I will always catch you," he explained, causing a tear or two to well up in my eyes.
"Thank you so much," I whisper, not sure what else to say. I take a second to compose myself before speaking again, "Now open your gift."
"How needy," he laughed before taking the wrapping paper off the gift and staring at his own face, "Merlin's beard, is there anything you can't do?"
"I mean, I can't juggle if you really wanted to know," I shrug before giggling at my own joke.
"You're perfect," Draco laughed. He switched his seat so he could sit by me. He put his arm around my shoulders and kissed the side of my forehead, letting a calm peace fall upon us. The peace, sadly did not last as long as I wanted because we had just pulled into Kings Cross Station. I stood up, wrapping my dark green jacket around my body.
"Could you help me with the necklace, please?" I ask Draco, batting my eyes. He got up without any protest, taking the chain from my hands. His hands gently graze my neck as they close the clasp. I turned around to face him, standing very close together, "Happy Christmas, Draco."
"Happy Christmas, Elora," he said, tenderly placing his lips on mine.
