"Special test?"

Sakayanagi sighed. "I'm getting quite tired of you pretending you don't know anything, Ayanokouji-kun."

"It was worth a try in my opinion."

I approached Sakayanagi who was sitting on her bed. From what I remember she's sharing her room with Kamuro, Morishita and Tamiya, but none of them are here at the moment. The rooms in the ship are pretty standard considering how luxurious the rest of the ship is, but with so much to do I doubt someone would spend much time in their room.

"Are you surprised that I ended up boarding regardless?" Sakayanagi asked.

Apparently she was notified that she wouldn't be able to board the boat due to her physical condition when everyone received information about the cruise a few weeks ago. She kept this secret though, so the whole class was quite confused when she was arguing with our homeroom teacher at the entrance of the school this morning.

We were told to just board the bus, and it departed without her getting on. My best guess is that she got a ride from one of the supervisors they brought with us to monitor us. They may be called supervisors, but really they're just employees of the school or even Keyaki Mall who signed up to watch the first years as an excuse to go on a free cruise.

I can't exactly blame them for that, I would've done the same had I been in their position.

"A little bit. Regardless of if you were allowed to come with us or not, the fact you had to fight for it just made me suspicious about the nature of this cruise."

"Fufu, I would expect nothing less. So, what is your current theory about this cruise? Why would I not be allowed to come with you all when it's just a simple vacation?"

"My first instinct was to assume the rocking of the boat would've been too much for you. While you can walk around just fine, the ship's movements caused by the waves could make it so it's near impossible for you to hold your balance."

"I see. And why is that theory not on the table anymore then?"

"Because the boat's movements are hardly noticeable. The only time I personally noticed it, was when Speranza first started moving."

"Then let's do a follow up question. To our knowledge, we are currently heading to an island where we'll be spending around a week. If the reason that I was originally not allowed to come with you all is not because of the boat, then the reason I'm not allowed to come with you all is because of something on the island."

Sakayanagi readjusted herself on her bed, sitting more upright and then patted the space next to her. I reluctantly sat next to her and the smile she was carrying on her face widened just slightly.

"With that information in mind, Ayanokouji-kun, what can we expect on the island that would stop me from coming along?"

"There's currently two options I'm considering."

The smile on Sakayanagi's face widened more. "Please indulge me with those options then."

"The first is that the island itself isn't able to accommodate your cane. Whether that be rough terrain or maybe poorly designed buildings I can't say for sure."

"And the other reason?"

"Whatever the school has planned for us on the island will require some form of physical strength or endurance. Something which you don't have, which is likely why they tried to get you to stay on campus."

"Fufufu~"

As I finished answering Sakayanagi's question I looked over at her. She was smiling from ear to ear, her cane held firmly between her fingers as she twirled it around in her hands. It was a strange sight to see her in such high spirits, but it wasn't particularly unpleasant either. If anything seeing her like this almost made me think she's just a normal high schooler.
