Sesshomaru had made it clear to his father his intentions. He will not let go of Rin. He wouldnt give up on her like how the older man had given up on his mom.

The moment she entered the front door looking all gloomy, he had the feeling she'd say something like her declaration just now.

"Let's break up."

He wanted to shake some sense into her. But he decided to keep his hand on his side.  Instead he asked, "Is that what you really want?"

Rin fell silent.

Is it?

She nodded.

"You dont think I'll let you go that easily do you?" Just because she declared wanting to break up, doesnt mean he'll agree to it.

He walked back to the living room, the front door isnt exactly the place to discuss such an important matter.

"The rift between us is too wide." He cocked a brow. Where is all this bullshit coming from? Does  she hear herself right now?

"It cant be fixed. This is for the best."

"You dont know that." He snapped.

"I've been affecting your work. I'm no good for you."

"You dont get to decide that."

"This relationship is going nowhere! Dont be so difficult."

"Do you really believe that? Or are you trying to convince yourself?"

"Yes." Yet she's shaking.

Rin, she was trying so hard to fake courage. It hurt to see her like this. After a long silence, Sesshomaru decided to give her what she pretends to want. "Let's break up."

The moment she heard the words, she stopped wringing her hands and she almost look like she was about to break. "Only if you tell me the real reason why."

"Why do you want to leave me so bad, Rin?"

He sounded so hurt that Rin couldnt look him in the eyes. "Y-your m-mom."

"What about her?" Sesshomaru couldnt see where this was going. He thought your father meddling in our relationship or something in those lines would be her answer. What has his dead mother got anything to do with this?

"What about okaa-san, Rin?" He couldnt understand anymore of this. It's become a tangled mess.

"I was the reason she died."

"That wasnt your fault!" He vehemently denounced her claim.

"Do you even know what happened that day? Because I--"

"I do!"

Sesshomaru could still remember clearly, vividly, like it was just yesterday. How could he forget. He lost the most important woman in his life that day.

Irazue and him were having a picnic lunch for the first time in a long time, since she had fallen ill.

She had finished setting up the food she had personally prepared for him on the picnic blanket.

The young boy noticed how her breathing became labored. "Are you alright mom?"

"Yes dear." She sat beside him in the blanket. "Just a little out of breath."

Irazue held her cardigan close to her chest. The doctor had advised her not to go out so much and exert effort, but today was so beautiful and she couldnt pass out the opportunity to spend time with her son.
