He had a lot of questions to ask her. But he decided against it. Now's not the time to interrogate her. She's too vulnerable.

Rin brushed off the idea of going to the hospital. She insisted on heading home instead. He didn't force her anymore since he knew well how that would end. The white walls, beeping machines and the stench of anti-septic and disinfectants would only make things worse.

Silence consumed the car's interior. After giving Hakurei directions, Rin fell completely silent at the passenger's. It's always like this with her.

Funny how dead people are supposed to rest in peace after they're buried beneath the earth, yet they still manage to hunt us.

Rin tends to space out. Like she had another world of her own. She'd be blank like that; sitting by the window. She wouldn't respond or talk for days. It's like she'd switch off all emotions, shutting everyone out.

He remembered slapping her hard across the face on their first meeting. It was her second day at the orphanage. He brought her food but she'd push it away, spilling the tray's contents. The food wasted.

When her face reddened and stung, only then did he got a reaction. Then she cried and wailed like the child that she should be. A child who lost her mom in an accident.

After what seemed hours she'd fell asleep. Waking up only to have no recollection whatsoever of what happened the past 3 days. It's unhealthy, the way she's coping.

Hakurei didn't expect Rin to live where she's currently at. He knew she went to rent her own place after leaving her aunt's place after college. Another thing to ask her.

He settled her down at her bed when they reached the house. And she drifted off to sleep.

Hakurei took his time to look around the house. He saw familiar books at the living room. Some he recognized as the ones he sent her as gifts on birthdays and Christmas. He also landed on some pictures at her desk. Some were taken at the school and the parsonage.

Then he came across the coffee table. There sat another set of picture. Mostly she were with this silver haired guy.

Must be her housemate. Or her boyfriend.

Hakurei doesn't know exactly what their arrangement is. But it didn't sit in well with him. Though Rin seemed genuinely happy in the pictures.

Hakurei proceeded to the kitchen and fetched a glass of water. He came back to her room. She was indeed fast asleep now.

What exactly caused her outburst? It's been years since she last had a breakdown. When she was taken in by her first adopted family.

Well, medication isn't exactly what she needs. So he just left her a note at her bedside table. He stayed for a while to make sure she'll be fine alone before leaving the front door shut and securedly lock.

Her demons are back.

Hakurei vowed to help her bury the ghosts of her past for good. He couldn't leave Rin alone. Not in an environment like this.

He needed to do something.
