The last time she was here she came with Sesshomaru. And if she remembered correctly that meeting didnt go down so well.
The Manor loomed ahead like a bad omen. Her heartbeat had become louder and louder as the cab neared the residence.
It took the driver thrice to call her attention. For a time she could only hear the pulse behind her ear. She got out, paid the driver and shut the car's door closed.
She took one long glance at the structure in front of her before following the walkway to the front doors.
Rin rang the door bell before her courage left her. The same stoic butler she met before opened the huge doors.
"Yes, Miss. Good afternoon." The man said in greeting. "Do you have an appointment?"
"Uh, no. But I was-"
"Then I suggest you set a schedule and comeback after-"
"It's fine Arisugawa." Rin and the butler bith turned their heads towards the newcomer.
"I shall escort Miss Rin. The master awaits her." Hakudoshi walked closer to them. The butler took his leave and Rin was greeted with a smile. But that provided no comfort at all.
"This way, if you may." The executive assistant pointed towards a hallway to the far right of the foyer.
She fell a good foot behind the secretary, following him silently to the master's study. After several minutes of walking down the long hallway, they stopped at a door.
The man knocked twice to make their presence known before opening one leaf to let her in first.
"President, Miss Rin has arrived."
"Leave us." Inu Taisho nodded and dismissed the younger man.
"As you say, master." Hakudoshi bowed and went for the door. The click of the lock resounded as he left.
An eerie sort of silence befell them when the secretary left. The older man, gestured for her to take a seat and went pass her to the large window on his wheelchair.
Rin cannot backout now. They both knew what she came here for. No point beating around the bush.
"You knew." The older aristocrat didnt answer. "Is that why you didnt want me for your son?"
"I have nothing against you, young girl."
Or so he says. Rin thought.
"It was an accidental discovery on our part." He continued as if recalling an important memory. "When I heard my son was living in with a woman, I had the matter investigated."
His eyes then fell on her after a long pause. "I had you investigated."
The older man's answer to her unspoken question.
Digging into someone else's personal life seemed to be normal for the likes of him. Those were hospital records, it was private information, but she guessed with his connections, anything is possible.
Rin went back to the same hospital where her mother was rushed, to get her medical records.
Hakurei suggested for her to get a hold of the said documents. The facts presented on those papers would help her heal. Would help her finally accept that she was not at fault. That she too was a victim of circumstances. That it was an accident. That she should let go of the guilt. That the child she was, was not at fault.
She never really expected to find out anything about what she just uncovered.
Rin was debriefed in the same hospital after the accident and was admitted to monitor her for trauma. When she asked access to her medical records, it also meant having access to her mom's files.
