Chapter 27: Of beginnings and endings

Yup, this is definitely a chapter. And by far, the longest one. I have overtime duty this coming friday so i can't possibly upload by then, so here is the chapter in advance. Tomorrow I'll update my other fic as well.

She was looking fondly at the newly wed couple dancing. She remembered the look of anticipation in the groom's face when the wedding march started. And how proud and joyed he was when Kagura came into view. And when they said their vows, and she finally said 'I do', he really looked like he was the happiest man on earth.

"What are you smiling on about?" Sesshomaru asked out of the blue.

"Nothing, I just thought, 'wow, she found her happiness'." She answered while her eyes were still glued to the couple.

When Rin finally turned to give him her attention, she was caught unawares.

"I found mine." He was sitting opposite her at the table. His face leaning on one arm. He was smiling genuinely at her. The fact that he rarely smiles and that the smile was directed at her, made her warm on the insides even more.

The couple dance to a few more songs and one by one the guest followed suit.

The bride danced with her father and some other important guests.

She was dancing with Sesshomaru now to the tune of a sweet country song.

"So, have you told her yet?" Kagura asked excitedly.

"Not yet."

"Why not?" She asked incredulously. "Dont give me that crap about perfect timing. There is no perfect timing. Hell, on the day Byakuya planned on asking me, his plans went haywire."

"I still have one last matter to attend."

She understood what he meant. "Dont make her wait too long."

"I dont plan to. "

After several moments, the bride went back to her groom. It was time for the presents. The couple opened gifts one by one. Posing for a photograph after each.

The next present is from...

Rin pulled on Sesshomaru's sleeve. "Isnt that your family lawyer, Jaken was it?"

Sesshomaru turned his gaze to the direction Rin was looking at.

He nodded in affirmation.

"And he's with that guy from your father's house."

"Hakudoshi." And as if to answer her question, "Kagura's father and the old man are acquaintances."

Oh, Rin thought. They're probably here in Inu Taisho's behalf, given that he is indisposed.

When Rin looked back to where the two men were, Hakudoshi happened to throw them a glance. And he met Rin's gaze. She cant help but think that there is something in the way he was looking at her. Almost as if he was taunting her.

She looked away first. What's with that guy? Besides, this is only the second time she's seen him. She never spoke to the man before! But there's something nagging Rin; she just can't put her fingers on it.

"Hey, you want me to get you some cake?" Sesshomaru asked breaking her thoughts; he was throwing her a teasing look, knowing full well her answer.

"Oh, yes please."
