ETNews Retract Their Comment That The 6th Generation of Kpop Has Started After ENHYPEN's Jia Mocks Them

K-Pop so far has been split into five generations. These generations have lasted at least five years, with some being further divided. However, the fifth generation was announced to "end" faster than anyone anticipated.
In an article published by ETNews, the 2025 debut of the group formed by the survival show MAKEMATE1 was called "leading the 6th Generation of K-Pop."
This article was mentioned during a live held by ENHYPEN/BABYMONSTER's Jia. A comment by a fan asked, "Will you be making a third debut in the 6th generation of Kpop since it has begun?"
To this comment Jia laughed in amusement. She then says, "I heard about that news article saying that the 6th generation is starting. Whoever wrote it was misguided and definitely doesn't know how the industry works because by that logic, we should be in the 20th generation of Kpop. If news articles are the new determining factor of when a generation starts, there would be no structure."
Since making this statement in her live, ETNews has since gone back on their article and changed the title to now say "leading the 5th Generation of K-Pop." The Korean news company also released a statement addressing the backlash and criticism. They said that the article calling for the start of the 6th generation was a mistake on their part and they would make improvements in their editing and research to make sure the same mistake does not happen again.
