The dim glow of the Last Drop’s lights cast long shadows over the wooden floor, the usual hum of conversation and laughter filling the space. You weren’t drinking, just waiting for Sevika to wrap up a game, letting the familiar sounds blend into background noise.
That’s when you saw it—her. Or at least, you thought it was her.
In the far corner, tucked away in the booth where Sevika usually sat, was a woman who looked almost exactly like her. Same sharp jaw, same dark hair, even the same broad shoulders and confident slouch.
But she wasn’t alone.
Someone sat beside her, leaning in too close, whispering something against her ear. And worse—she didn’t pull away.
Your stomach twisted, the air suddenly feeling too thick to breathe.
Sevika had told you she’d be busy tonight, something about business, something about keeping her hands clean. But if she was here—if this was her—then why was she with someone else?
You stood frozen, hands clenched at your sides, heart hammering painfully against your ribs.
A part of you wanted to storm over, to demand answers, but your feet felt like lead, the weight of betrayal sinking deep in your chest.
Before you could even decide what to do, you felt a familiar hand settle on your lower back. Warm, solid, grounding.
“Doll?” Sevika’s voice, low and edged with confusion.
You flinched, whipping around, eyes wide.
Sevika stood there, brows furrowed, a deep crease forming between them as she took in your expression.
Your gaze flickered between her and the woman in the corner—who was still there, still leaned into someone else, but now, now it was obvious.
It wasn’t her.
A rush of relief and embarrassment crashed over you all at once, leaving you breathless.
“The hell’s wrong?” Sevika’s tone was softer now, the concern in her eyes deepening as she watched you struggle to find words.
You swallowed hard, shaking your head, feeling a little stupid. “I… I thought that was you.” You motioned towards the booth, voice quiet, ashamed.
Sevika followed your gaze, spotting the woman in question. A slow, knowing smirk pulled at her lips before she looked back at you, amused but not mocking.
“You think I’d be dumb enough to pull some shit like that?” Her voice was teasing, but there was a seriousness beneath it, like the idea alone was ridiculous to her.
Heat burned at the back of your neck, but you still felt the lingering ache in your chest, the panic that had gripped you seconds ago refusing to fade completely.
“I— I don’t know,” you admitted, voice small. “For a second, I just—”
Sevika’s smirk softened, and in one fluid motion, she cupped your jaw, tilting your face up towards hers.
“Look at me,” she murmured, thumb tracing slow, deliberate circles against your skin. “I don’t fuck around, sugar. Especially not with you.”
You exhaled shakily, letting yourself lean into her touch, letting it sink in.
“You’re the only one I want,” she said, quieter now, just for you. “And you should know by now—I don’t share.”
A weak laugh slipped past your lips, some of the tension in your chest finally unraveling. “That supposed to be romantic?”
Sevika grinned, her lips ghosting against yours before pulling back. “Took the words right outta my mouth, princess.”
You rolled your eyes but didn’t pull away, letting her hold you there, steady and sure.
Maybe you had been foolish for jumping to conclusions, but if there was one thing you knew for certain—it was that Sevika never said anything she didn’t mean.
