The next time (Y/N)'s eyes fluttered open after resting for the day, a multitude of faces could be seen, their blurry and distorted images slowly coming into focus to reveal several of the Hashira sitting around her. Sitting up in confusion, she flinched when noticing the clear worry and apprehension settling deeply in their eyes that all reflected her image. There was Mitsuri, Giyu, Kyojuro, and Tengen—Shinobu nor Sanemi were nowhere to be seen.

"W-What's wrong?" She asked with a rapid blink, glancing from one face to the next.

"'What's wrong?'" Giyu uttered softly, his expression having never once shifted despite his gaze holding an almost molten type of quiet fury that burned brighter with each passing second. "You ask 'what's wrong?', when I haven't seen you for months, and the next I hear, it was because you were taken."

(Y/N) shuddered, unnerved.

His tone was deeply oppressive—desperate, almost. Yet, again, his expression hadn't so much as twitched. It was as if he were barely constraining himself from lashing out, so used to keeping up his monotone countenance that it would be difficult to stray. Slowly, she slid her gaze down to his hands, finding that they were squeezed so tightly into fists that she could see the faint red stains of blood trickling down his palms where his nails cut into his flesh.

"Calm down, Tomioka," Tengen sighed, his arms crossed over his chest. "You're almost making it out to be her fault."

Giyu's eyes thinned into a glare.

"Anyways, are you alright?" Tengen continued, a faint glimmer of guilt tingeing his stare.

"I'm fine," (Y/N) shook her head as she tried to push Giyu's behavior out of her mind even though he was barely a few feet from her, his eyes drilling into her skull with an unrelenting force—she couldn't help but equate it as a way to ensure she wouldn't leave his side again. "It is true that I was captured by that man, but if anything, my time there has made me stronger and more determined to find my brother. Ubuyashiki-sama is the one who recommended I rest, though."

"I admire your tenacity, (Y/N)-san," Kyojuro smiled as he placed a hand on her own, not noticing the way Giyu's brow twitched, nor how Tengen frowned at the placement. "It is what makes you a wonderful person, one whom I am thankful has returned!"

"I as well," she returned his smile.

Kyojuro inhaled sharply at such a look, his heart thudding dangerously fast against his chest. He swore it was the best thing he had ever seen in his entire life, wanting nothing more than to gaze upon her visage for his every waking hour. It almost hurt how much he wanted to hold her within his arms, knowing he couldn't, but wishing for it all the same. How she had ensnared his heart and mind so bewitchingly was not a concern to him, rather, it was how he still couldn't state with absolute certainty that she was his which was.
