Regulus and Asteria sat on the sofa in the Slytherin common room. He had finally gotten her to calm down and convinced her that it was in her best interest to apologize to Mattheo. They had come up with all whole story about it. But most of it wasn't a lie anyway. She wasn't happy about the idea of apologing to him. She knew that she had to. She would have to deal with him here and around school.
She sat curled in the corner of the couch reading a random book that she had just picked up. Regulus sat on the other sofa across from her. Studying her as she read. His eyebrows shot up as the white scales caught his attention.
"Ari no sudden movements. I think Tom's snake got loose." Bored her looked up at Regulus as something slithered over her shoulder and she giggled. The snake's tongue flicked her cheek before coiling deeper into her hair.
"Hello pretty girl." The snake had woven its way through her hair and around the other side of her where its head rested peacefully against her shoulder.
"She's a starlight cobra. A brave snake to keep as a pet." She quietly muttered. But she settled back into her book. But Regulus held his wand in his hand tightly and watched for any sign that the snake was going to strike her. "What's the snake's name?" Regulus arched an eyebrow at her.
"Tom calls her Thalia." A ghost of smile graced her lips as she simply nodded. She seemed completely at ease with the poisonous snake on her shoulder and that's when he realized that she had had Voldemort's snake before he did.
Laughter pulled her attention toward the entrance and Regulus rushed to his feet holding his hand out toward them.
"Whatever you do sit on this sofa and not the other. Thalia is wrapped in Asteria's hair." She rolled her eyes as the snake lifted its head and moved right next to her face looking at the group that had just come in. Both Mattheo's eyebrows shot up. That snake hated him, and he could actually talk to her and yet here it was acting like it was some kind of kitten perched on the white-haired girl.
"How are you not afraid that she will bite you." Asteria smiled at Astoria who looked like she was going to faint at any moment.
"She's harmless. Snakes are good judges of character." She stated calmly stroking Thalia's scales gently. "She just shed too. I suppose she mistakened my hair as one of her own." She laughed softly as the snake flicked her tongue against her cheek again. Mattheo was dumbfounded as he perched on the arm at the end of the sofa studying them both. He knew that his brother was going to lose his mind over this.
"She says that you smell sweet." Asteria snorted.
"In truth I'm probably more poisonous than she is." Regulus grunted in agreement, and it caused the others to laugh. But she turned to Mattheo offering him a small smile. "I do wish to apologize for hitting you. My ex called me little dove and he was not kind." Mattheo nodded in understanding and shrugged his shoulders.
"It's alright. Lorenzo let me know that I did infact take it too far. He said that when I called you that you looked physically ill. So, we assumed it was something along those lines." Asteria tilted her head at them curiously. They all resembled their parents. But she didn't sense the same hatred in them as she had them.
"What the hell is this?" Tom's voice echoed through the room, causing her to flinch and Mattheo hadn't missed it. He gave his brother an easy-going smile and pointed over his shoulder.
"Thalia seems to have found a new friend." Tom took a step forward and his heart jumped. Asteria lifted her eyes to meet his and the snake sensing her anxiety hissed at Tom. She winced and stroked the snake's scales in order to calm it. Tom however frowned at his snake. She had never done something like that to him.
"May I have my snake back?" He said through clenched teeth. Asteria huffed. It wasn't like she wanted the snake to be this close to her. It had done it on its own!
"Of course she is yours." Asteria made quick work of detangling the snake from her hair as she stood and walked toward Tom. Her hands trembled slightly the closer that she got. It didn't go unnoticed by Tom. So, she was afraid of him. She held the snake toward him and Thalia stretched out toward him so that he wouldn't accidently touch Asteria. He let out a long huff and took the snake with a look of annoyance.
"Who did my father kill that was important to you?" The room fell silent as Asteria stilled and Regulus inhaled sharply moving toward her. Even Draco took a step closer to her. Tom glanced at both of them before turning his gaze back to her. The dead look in her eyes was all that he needed to see.
She smirked and Regulus reached for her. Knowing that she was about to do something incredibly stupid.
"Good night, Riddle." She turned on her heels and made her way toward the girls' dorm. She would not break here. She would not let her temper run away from her now.

Nightmare.
Asteria inhaled a sharp breath, Nagini slithered along her feet but didn't pay her any attention. The air was thick with blood lust, and she looked up at the long table a subtle smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth, when she noticed Bellatrix's body. Her stomach twisted hard at the man who looked more like a snake than a man. She covered his mouth as he let out a dark laugh.
"So, she's finally playing her hand." The familiarity in his tone made her want to puke. Asteria frowned when she noticed Peter Pettigrew. Rage slammed into her chest, and she took a step forward. There was a look of panic in his eyes as he looked down at Bellatrix.
"Dark Lord, should we not try to find her and get rid of her?" Her grin widened. He was terrified. Good. She moved closer and watched him pale as Tom Riddle turned to him his eyes darkening.
"We are not killing My little Dove." Her heart dropped. Her eyes snapping toward him. Chills ran over her as he looked directly at her. His eyes were still the same as she remembered them. "She will come to us. Won't you little dove?"
Asteria let out a strangled scream as she shot up right in her bed. Golden blonde hair rushed toward her. Then soft brown eyes met hers.
"Ari are you alright?" This was Daphne. Astoria's sister. The girl was far too soft hearted to her own good. A tight smile pulled at her lips.
"I'm alright. It was just a bad dream that's all. Daphne gave her a worried look but nodded.
"Would you like me stay with you until you fall back to sleep." The smile slipped from her face as she just stared at the blonde girl for a moment too long. Daphne offered her sweet smile and guided her back to her pillow before she took Asteria's hand and just held it. What a strange girl. She thought to herself as she closed her eyes again.
