Asteria groaned at the weight that was on top of her. She rubbed her face roughly and opened her eyes and a mess of blond hair was laying on her chest. She found herself smiling and remembering that Lily had done something like this before.

"Daph! You're squishing me." She groaned playfully shaking the girl. Daphne grumbled and sat up rubbing her eyes as she looked at Asteria as she sat up. Her eyes widened when she noticed that a single tear was sliding down her cheek. But she was smiling.

"Did I hurt you?! Your crying!" Frantically Daphne wiped Asteria's tears away. She giggled softly and took the blonde's hand in hers.

"It's alright. I had a friend that was a lot like you. She would do what you did after I had a nightmare." Daphne's expression saddened as she tightened her hold on the other girl's hand.

"Is that you who you lost." Asteria smiled sadly and nodded.

"Yes. She was an amazing person. Too gentle hearted for her own good. She saw the best in everyone." Asteria stiffened as Daphne wrapped her arms around Asteria. She really does remind me of Lily. Asteria patted her back in a comforting manner. And Daphne pulled away with a bright smile.

"Come on. Let's get ready." Asteria snorted. She dressed quickly in the Slytherin skirt and sweater before pulling out the black leather jacket that James had given her before she left. It had been his when they were in school. She twisted her hair into a ponytail and grabbed her messenger bag. Daphne waited for her in the common room. But her eyebrows drew together when she spotted Regulus and Draco making conversation with her.

"Reggie?" Regulus turned toward her smiling. Draco pulled Daphne along in front of them and Regulus dropped an arm around her shoulders.

"I heard you scream last night. Are you okay?" She nodded slightly and watched Daphne laugh at something Draco said and Asteria grinned. Regulus gave her a curious look. It wasn't like her to get attached to someone so quickly.

"Does Daphne remind you of Lily too?" His eyebrows shot up. He hadn't thought about it. But now that she had something. He could see it. It was like a weight lifted from his shoulders.

"I'm glad that you made fast friends with her. She's a good person." Asteria huffed and shook her head. She hated that he made it seem like she was easy to read.

"Downside I have class in ten minutes. Upside, I won't have any with your friends." Regulus laughed loudly and then shook his head. It wasn't surprised in the slightest that she had said it.

"You will be fine. Just don't be disrespectful to Snape." An evil glint passed over her eyes and she smirked.

"Only if he doesn't annoy me."

Asteria had, had a pretty decent day

Asteria had, had a pretty decent day. But now she was sat in potions, happily glaring at Severus. She could tell that the man was unusually tense. She had gotten here early, and it was just the two of them in the classroom. He finally turned toward her and eyed her for a moment.

"Thank you." He said quietly and the glare faltered from her face. She knew what he was thanking her for, but she didn't understand why. He inhaled a deep breath and walked toward her. he leaned down closer to her, and she leaned away. Her eye twitching.

"You kept your word. And now those boys have breathing room." An ache formed in her chest. Sure, she hated the Riddles and all the death eaters. But it had become clear that they didn't have a choice of who their father was. Just like she hadn't.  She gave a sharp nod, and he straightened and moved back toward the front of the room. Soon there were students that were filing in the room, and she groaned internally as Barty came walking in with Tom. The hairs on the back of her neck standing up as they sat down directly behind her.

"Hey starlight." Asteria groaned internally and ignored Barty's attempt at flirting with her. There was no way that she would ever be interested in a Crouch. He father and grandfather had been the same way.

"Good afternoon class. I am changing things up. Over the next several weeks I will assign you a partner and you will be going over several potions together."  Asteria's mouth felt open when Severus's eye met hers and he smirked at her. She never liked that smirk. It meant that he was up to something and most likely she would want to kill him for it.

Asteria picked at her fingernails as she frowned over at Tom. Yup she was kill Severus for pairing her with this bean pole. Just you wait Snivellous!  Tom lifted his eyes from his book and huffed a small laugh at the frown on her face.

"You are staring." Asteria shrugged.

"Trying to see if I can burn holes in your head mentally." She shot back quickly. Tom gave her an impressed smile revealing his white teeth. She averted her gaze away from him.

"Ari there you are. I wanted to-Tom." Harry's voice made her straighten and turn in her chair to look at him. But Harry was glaring at Tom. Tom arched an eyebrow at the both of them. He found it odd that she already knew so many people and she had just started here.

"I'll catch up with you later Harry." Asteria replied giving him a pointed look. Harry nodded and headed off in a different direction of the library.

"How is it that you have been here less than a day and you already know Harry Potter?" Annoyance filled her as she turned her gaze back to him. Her face gave nothing away.

"I'm a friendly person. To some." Tom snorted and sat back in his chair.

"Just not the sons of Voldemort." Tom waited for her to tell him off, but she just gave him an unimpressed look.

"There were worse Wizards than your father." She stated in a monotone. Tom's eyes narrowed. He couldn't figure this girl out. But there was something that was eerily familiar about her and it was getting on his nerves that he couldn't figure it out.
