"DIANA left..." muling wika ni Mike upang mapatingin siya rito gamit ang nanlilisik niyang mga mata. "She was already one week gone and I don't know where she is. I'm sorry."
Nagtitimping sinugod niya si Mike at kwinelyuhan ito. "Of course, you need to be sorry, you fuck! You have the bravest and most amazing wife and yet you cheated on her and make her feel unloved. Kung alam mo lang kung gaano kita kinaiinggitan, kung alam mo lang kung gaano ko hinangad ang kung anong buhay mo ngayon habang malayang nakakasama si Diana, putang-ina, baka magulat ka kung gaano ako desperado."
"You envy the life I have and yet everybody envies yours including me. I promised Diana a laid-back life before we got married, in exchange she would give up her dreams. Bilang isang lalaki, handa akong bumuhay sa aming dalawa. But reality slapped me when I couldn't give that to Diana and I realized I promised something I couldn't fulfill," paliwanag nito sabay napabuntong-hininga.
Mariing tiningnan niya si Mike bago niya ito marahas na pinakawalan. He was stil furious after he found out his secret but he was not heartless not to feel pity for Mike's situation.
Hearing his side made him appreciate the life he had more than he did.
"Alam kong natapakan ang pride ko kahit na hindi ko 'yon maamin kay Diana. I have grown more insecure and my loyalty was tested. And for that, I was prone to temptation and after a long series of restraints, I gave in. I cheated on my wife for a year and I carry the guilt every day."
Ikinuyom ni Cormac ang mga kamay subalit hanggang doon na lang ang kanyang nagawa. Minabuti niya na lamang na lumisan sa bahay na iyon kaysa naman may magawa pa siyang masama rito.
Just as when he was ready to turn his back on Mike, something changed his mind. He looked at Mike in disbelief as he couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth.
"What did you say?"
"I said I plan it. My wife working for you," pag-uulit nito para magpanting ang tainga niya sa galit. "Ginawa ko iyon dahil nagbakasakaling akong mahulog ang loob ni Diana sayo. And Diana did so my plan on getting us even worked."
"You son of a bitch!" asik ni Cormac at inundayan ito nang malakas na suntok. Hindi pa sapat na napahiga ito sa sahig kaya sinundan niya pa iyon ng iilang mga suntok. "How can you do that to your own wife? You are sick! I can't believe you made Diana fall for someone like you."
Mike countered with a sinister smirk. "But I did, didn't I? It's me who she married. It's me who was her first of everything. Without me, she would never involved herself with you. That's right, I'm saying you should thank me because if it weren't for me you would never have the taste of the forbidden. It was me who shared Diana with you."
"You..." Nanginginig ang kamao ni Cormac habang pinipigilan niya ang sarili na gulpihin si Mike hanggang sa hindi na ito makagulapay, hanggang sa hindi na ito makahinga. But then he held himself before he totally lose control and kill him.
"Pack your things. I want you to leave the estate as soon as tomorrow."
Galit na nilisan niya na ito at itinakbo na lamang ang kanyang sama ng loob patungo sa vineyard.
He ran as fast as he could as Mike's scathing words echoed in his ears over and over again.
“Without me, she would never involved herself with you...”
