Summary:

In a world where the only 'supernatural' abilities lies within certain creatures, it's easy for people to neglect the living presence behind those powers.

With different circumstances comes different outcomes- a sentence that Shoto Todoroki can relate to on a completely different level than most his age. Especially, as sharing a society with these powerful creatures called Pokémon, can make even the simplest task into a nightmare.

Pokémon is a wide term for the many creatures living within the world- creatures that posses different abilities depending on their type and evolution state. Creatures that varies in colors, powers and sizes, some rarer than others.

In the current society, every human would be living alongside a Pokémon one way or another, whether that be on purpose or by accident. They live in the wild, as well as within societies, buildings and inner circles- being seen as comrades, family and even pets.

Some people decides to become 'trainers', which is a title you would gain when reaching the age of ten- an early age to start a journey alone, with whatever Pokémon partner of your choice. A partner that will be chosen within the three starters of your country- usually of the types; fire, water or grass.

Shoto wished that had been the case for him... wished he had gained the normal route...

But to his misfortune, he had been born into the 'Todoroki' family. One known for their fire and ice type Pokémon, that not only was well trained and good in battle, but also were hatched within the Todoroki estate. 

His father had taken great pride in the fire-types of his families lineage, while his mother brought her knowledge and love for ice-types with her when they married. A marriage that may of been more of his fathers' accord than his mothers'..

A normal family would of waited until their kid turned ten, before letting them start their journey.. or atleast of asked their kid for their opinion... But that wasn't the case for the Todoroki family. 

The second a child bearing that name turns eight, their granted two eggs, one of each type, for which they have to care for until one hatches- this being their first Pokémon, and one they'll train and care for on their own. Shoto never liked the idea.. and neither did his mother nor his siblings... They got a year to take care of the Pokémon at home, before being forced out on their ninth birthday- a year before any normal child would even be able to choose their beginning...

Being the youngest of four siblings, Shoto had witnessed his fair-share of this event, in which he knew he'd have to participate... getting your first Pokémon was supposed to be special... however, he's never seen his siblings smile even once, before they were kicked out...

He prayed the experience would be different. That he'd get to enjoy his youth or atleast enjoy the experience of what was supposed to be the happiest day of his life- however, fate was never on his side.

It wasn't until the fateful day rolled around and two eggs were placed infront of him that he realised which position he held. Realized that the day he thought to be special, seemed more like a nightmare than a dream.

His heterochromiatic eyes wandered over the two eggs, as he could hear his father leaving the room again- not even sparing him a glance and much less any guidance at all.

Guess he should of expected that..

One egg was a fiery red and the other a snowy white- clearly indicating which egg was which type, but that was also the only information he would get. The eggs were always chosen at random, so no one would know which Pokémon they get before it hatches- a detail that had always confused him greatly. What was the point of them getting a random Pokémon, when everyone else can choose theirs at will?
