You can't help but feel a slight guilt creeping in your gut as you walk up to the front door of the house you grew up in. The last time you saw your family was the day you left for camp. A wave of nausea rolls through you at just how much has changed since then. Just a few days ago your aunt, uncle, and brother were preparing a welcome home dinner for you and your father. You were to be discharged from the hospital and come home with your dad while a group of pros went out in search of Bakugou and the League of Villains' hideout. Instead you lied, tricked your classmates, and devised a plan of your own to retrieve Bakugou. You acted irrationally and put your father and Bakugou's lives in danger. As well as your own. You sigh deeply, knowing there are a lot of apologies you are going to have to make.

Your father makes to unlock the front door. The key doesn't even make it into the lock before the door is swung open and your aunt stands before the two of you, wild blue eyes scanning over you in disbelief. A whimper escapes her throat as she pulls you into the house and against her in the embrace of a mother who nearly lost her daughter. She weeps into your shoulder and you cling onto the woman who raised you, tears streaming silently down your cheeks. She extends an arm and pulls Aizawa into the hug. You wish this feeling could last forever. The feeling of utmost safety. The whole world could be crumbling down. But here, here in the arms of two people who sacrificed so much to give you the best life you could possibly imagine, it is safe. These heroes gave you a life full of love, support, and everything you could ask for. Regardless of blood these are your parents. Legally, Aizawa is your father but where there was Aizawa there was Midnight. Nearly every memory of your childhood was made with both of them right there beside you. And you wouldn't change a single thing.

In a swift dip your father scoops you and Midnight up in each arm and sets you down gently onto the couch. You wipe away gently at Midnight's tears and offer her a smile.
"I was so worried about you, my little love."
Her voice comes out broken as if she'd been crying for days.
"I am so sorry. I promise it will never happen again." You take her hands in yours and give them a gentle squeeze.

"It cannot happen again. Your father called me in a state I have never, in my life, heard him in. He sounded so frantic and scared and he just kept saying you were in danger. It took everything in me to not go after you myself. But he told me to stay here with Shinsou. And don't even get me started on when I got word that the both of you were in critical condition and being rushed to the hospital."
She breaks down again. The guilt that was previously creeping up on you rushes through every inch of your body. You already knew before but you definitely know now that you will never make this big of a mistake ever again.

Midnight inches closer to you and gently runs her fingers through your hair.
"I love you as if you were my own. And that will never change. You have such a brave and loving heart, my girl. But you must also listen to that beautifully clever mind of yours." She kisses the top of your head before pulling you in for another hug.
"I love you too." You say against her chest.

Midnight takes your face in her hands and kisses your forehead before making her way to the kitchen where your father pours himself a cup of coffee. You feel the couch beside you sink and turn to find Shinsou sitting beside you. He takes you in as if making sure you are real before wrapping his arms around you. A hug is all it takes. An unspoken understanding passing between the connection of two people who love each other like siblings. He pulls away from the hug and stands up, offering a hand.
"Let's go to the kitchen. Midnight made our favorite." He winks at you.
You take his hand, eager to stuff your face with Midnight's famous chocolate cake.

You and your brother walk over to the kitchen and sit at the island where two slices of cake are already waiting for the both of you. Midnight plops two forks into each slice with a smile. You thank her and take a bite of the cake. All of life's problems are suddenly solved. You slice another bite size piece and bring it up to your lips when suddenly your dad takes your hand and redirects your fork to his mouth.
Midnight slaps Aizawa playfully on the arm as Shinsou laughs, pointing at the complete and utter shock on your face.
Your dad shrugs, "Consider that your first punishment."
Your brother laughs even harder and you roll your eyes playfully at the fun your family is having at your expense.
