Chapter Thirty Five

Waking up with the weight of the objective today was both a struggle and a relief. Although the five of you were determined to save the little girl in the Shie Hissaikai's clutches, the underlying fear of the unknown lingered in the air around the group. Sir Nighteye made sure to keep his speech on his findings and the plan for the intervention clear and concise this morning. The heroes and police wasted no time in appearing before the headquarters of the yakuza group with a warrant and ready to retrieve the child. Ryukyu, Uraraka, Tsu, Hado, and a few other heroes, alongside the police, remained outside to fight after being attacked by a few strong members of the Shie Hissaikai. They gave you, your father, Fat Gum's group, Sir Nighteye's group, Rock Lock, and other members of the police unit the chance to push through and make it to the underground hallways beneath the facade of an inconspicuous home.

So far, Sir Nighteye's vision and instructions have proven to be correct but you find yourself, alongside the others, at an unforeseen dead end. After running through the underground hallways for less than a minute you stop in your tracks and stare up at the wall blocking, what should have been, a far longer hallway.  You analyze the situation beside Kirishima and Midoriya, the three of you clad in your hero costumes for your first official mission.
Rock Lock groans, "So much for your foresight, Nighteye."
Togata takes off his helmet, "I can handle this."
In the five seconds it takes for him to make it halfway to the wall, you've already activated your quirk and discovered that the path continues beyond the wall. Luckily the entire underground maze was assembled with earth's materials.

"The hallway keeps going. From what I can see, there are multiple walls beyond just this one to slow us down." You vocalize your discovery.
Togata stops in his tracks and smiles, "You beat me to it. Now, I can travel through them with my permeation, but someone will have to destroy each wall for the rest of you-"
You lower the wall before you with a twist of your foot against the rocky surface just as Midoriya and Kirishima charge through the lowered wall with their quirks. Kirishima chuckles as he punches through the air and it takes a second for Midoriya to process that he'd just used his quirk against nothing.

Rock Lock whistles as the other pros and officers nod to your father with approval.
"I was wondering what could have possibly gotten the low profile Erasure hero to take on a work study student." Sir Nighteye pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose, "I see now."
Your father smiles and throws a wink in your direction when everyone runs past the crumbled wall. It warms your heart when your father is proud of you because more than half of that pride is a result of his parenting and training and your father isn't one to give himself enough credit.

As you and Togata take the lead, you bring down the next wall and grant the rest of the group access to keep pushing forward. Just after you bring down the next wall and take a step into the rest of the hallway, the ground moves beneath you. You take hold of the wall to steady yourself, only the walls are moving too. The entire hallway stretches and bends, morphing its shape inconsistently.
"What the hell is going on?!" Kirishima shouts from an arm's length away.
Midoriya holds his arms out for balance, "The ground and the walls...Everything's twisting."
Your dad calls out your name, "Can you steady the ground with your quirk?"

You steady yourself as best you can and close your eyes. Your concentration is unbroken despite the situation. The layout of the hallway appears behind your eyes, it quivers and changes, making you dizzy.
"This can't be Chisaki's quirk. It doesn't match the disassemble, reassemble description." Rock Lock calls out.
Fat Gum shakes his head, "No, but I would bet that whoever this quirk belongs to is using one of the Shie Hissaikai's quirk enhancer drugs."
Sir Nighteye curses, "Aizawa can you do something about this?"
Your dad slips his yellow goggles over his eyes, "Not without seeing the real body. Should they reveal themselves, I'll take care of it."
