Jennie Kim was not the type to be haunted.

She had spent years burying the things that hurt her.

And yet, in just one moment, the past had caught up to her.

"Jennie."

Her grip on her coffee tightened.

The voice was too familiar.

Slowly, Jennie turned—

And came face-to-face with the woman who once broke her heart.

Park Chaeyoung.

The tension between them was palpable.

Jennie sat across from Chaeyoung, fingers wrapped around her untouched coffee.

She had never expected to see her again.
Not after everything.

"I was in town," Chaeyoung said, stirring her drink slowly. "I wanted to see you."

Jennie leaned back, keeping her expression unreadable. "What for?"

Chaeyoung gave her a small smile. "Can't an ex-wife check in?"

Jennie scoffed. "We haven't spoken in years, Chaeyoung."

"I know," she murmured, playing with the edge of her napkin. "But I've been thinking a lot about us."

Jennie's jaw tightened.

"There is no 'us,'" she said firmly.

Chaeyoung tilted her head, eyes searching hers. "Are you sure?"

Before Jennie could answer—

"Mrs. Kim?"

Jennie's breath caught.

She looked up—

And saw Jisoo.

Standing at the counter, holding a tray of drinks, her eyes wide with something Jennie couldn't quite name.

Jisoo had walked into the café at the worst possible moment.

Jennie saw the flicker of something—discomfort? Hurt?—flash across her face.

Then, just as quickly, Jisoo masked it.

Jennie's stomach twisted.

Chaeyoung turned, following Jennie's gaze.

"Who's this?" she asked, curious.

Jennie hesitated.

Jisoo answered first.

"I'm Sohee's teacher," she said, voice carefully neutral.

Jennie hated it.

Chaeyoung raised an eyebrow. "Oh?" She glanced between them, then smirked. "Just Sohee's teacher?"

Jisoo smiled, but Jennie knew her well enough now to see the tension in her shoulders.

"Yes," Jisoo said smoothly. "That's all."

Jennie's heart sank.

Because it wasn't true.
Because Jisoo wasn't just Sohee's teacher.
Because Jennie hated hearing her say it.

And when Jisoo turned to leave, not sparing Jennie another glance—

Jennie knew.

She was in trouble.

——————-

Jennie sat in her dimly lit office, a glass of whiskey untouched beside her.

She had spent the last hour thinking.
