The first night of marriage was... unexpectedly awkward.

Not dramatic. Not scandalous. Not the kind of cinematic tension people whispered about.

Just two newly married women standing in the doorway of their honeymoon suite, both pretending to be significantly calmer than they actually were.

The hotel room overlooked the sea—soft waves rolling under moonlight, curtains swaying gently from the balcony doors. Rose petals had been scattered across the bed in an aggressively romantic attempt by the staff. Candles glowed on every surface like the room itself was blushing.

Jennie stepped inside first, slipping off her heels with a quiet sigh of relief. Her wedding dress had already been changed into something softer—silk, ivory, elegant but comfortable.

Jisoo closed the door behind them.

There was a pause.

A very loud pause.

Jisoo cleared her throat.

"So," she began, hands in her pockets like she was negotiating a contract instead of discussing a marital sleeping arrangement, "do you... want to sleep together? Or separately? I can ask for another room. I'm okay either way."

Jennie froze.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

She turned around.

"Separately?" she repeated.

Jisoo blinked, immediately sensing something dangerous in the tone but not understanding what.

"I mean—if you're tired. Or uncomfortable. I don't want you to feel pressured," Jisoo added quickly. "It's been a long day."

Jennie stared at her like she'd just announced she was moving to another country.

"You're okay either way?" Jennie asked again, softer this time.

"Yes," Jisoo said honestly. "Whatever makes you comfortable."

There was another pause.

Jennie's expression shifted.

Her lips pressed together.

"Oh," she said simply.

Jisoo frowned slightly. "Oh?"

"It's fine," Jennie replied, turning away and walking toward the balcony. "You can ask for another room."

Now Jisoo definitely sensed a problem.

"I didn't say I wanted another room."

"You said you're okay either way."

"I am."

Jennie folded her arms.

Silence.

Ocean waves filled the space between them.

Jisoo stepped closer cautiously. "Did I say something wrong?"

Jennie didn't look at her.

"No."

That tone meant yes.

Jisoo exhaled slowly. "Jennie."

Nothing.

She moved until she was standing just behind her, not touching, just close enough.

"I'm not asking because I don't want to sleep next to you," Jisoo said gently. "I'm asking because I don't know what you're comfortable with."
