The MV dropped at 1 PM KST — exactly when Jennie was supposed to be in a meeting with her team.
Supposed to.

Except the only thing open on her laptop right now was YouTube.
And the only thing she could hear was Jisoo's voice — husky, ethereal, perfectly woven with Zayn's deep tone.

The video played in full-screen, muted gasps escaping her lips every few seconds.
Jisoo on a rooftop. Jisoo in that black coat. Jisoo standing way too close to Zayn.

Jennie's heart did a weird flip between pride and something... sharper.

"You're proud of her, Jennie," she muttered to herself. "Proud."

"...and also maybe homicidally jealous."

Her phone kept buzzing with messages — Rosé sending heart emojis, Lisa text the group "SO PROUD OF MY JISOO!! 😭🔥", fans trending #EyesClosedMV worldwide.

Jennie tried to join the excitement. Really, she did.
But then the scene came up — the one near the end, where Zayn rested her head on Jisoo's shoulder.

Jennie paused it. Rewound.
Paused again.

"Why... so close?" she mumbled, narrowing her eyes like she could glare Zayn out of the screen.

That night, curiosity got the better of her.
Or jealousy. It was honestly hard to tell.

So when Jisoo's manager came by to drop off Jennie's misplaced earring from rehearsal the week before, Jennie casually blocked the door.

"Oppa, hi. Quick question," she said sweetly, too sweetly.

"Uh, hi Jennie-ssi. What—"

"I heard there's behind-the-scenes footage. For the Eyes Closed MV. You've seen it, right?"

The man froze. "W-well, yes, but it's not public yet—"

Jennie tilted her head slightly, smile soft but her eyes saying don't test me.
"Can I see it?"

"Jennie-ssi, it's under embargo. I can't just—"

"Oppa."
She leaned forward, lowering her voice. "You can. And you will. Because if not, I might just text Jisoo right now and ask why her manager doesn't share things with her girlfriend."

He blinked. "G-girlfriend?"

Jennie smiled innocently. "Best friend. Obviously."

Five minutes later, she was scrolling through Jisoo's behind-the-scenes folder like she owned it.

The clip started with Jisoo laughing — the kind of laugh that showed her gums, full and unguarded. She looked radiant.

And then Zayn entered the frame.
They were standing close, reviewing a scene. At one point, they laughed at the director's words where Jennie could feel her head boiling.

Then — that hug. The one after the final take.
Quick, casual, but real.

Jennie's stomach twisted.

She closed the laptop slowly, fingers tightening into small fists.

For the next hour, she didn't say a word. She just lay on the couch, scrolling through social media where everyone was talking about how beautifully cinematic the chemistry was.

"Chemistry," Jennie muttered under her breath. "Sure. Let's call it that."

When Jisoo came home later that night, she was glowing.
Jet-lagged but glowing — hair still damp from her shower, hoodie too big, face makeup-free.
