Cora Holloway liked Tutshill, she really did. It was a quiet town on the border of Wales and England, only a short train ride from both Bristol and Cardiff. The Tutshill Tornadoes' stadium was disguised from the muggles as a warehouse in some fields about 20 minutes from any other building. The team trained together three days a week at said stadium in the pre-season which had started at the beginning of July. While they each had to promise (sign legally binding contracts) to train privately for another three. When the season kicked off at the end of August they would be training four days a week in the field, with a game on the weekend. Finals occurred in December, right before Christmas.
Because of their busy schedule, the whole team and the reserves lived on an estate in the fields for the portion of the week that they trained. Small little campers that served as their halfway homes. Some of the other teams chose to let their players commute from their real homes everyday, but the Tornadoes thought that it would wear them out. That by staying on property they would be more focused, yield better results.
It seemed they were right, as the team were the reigning champions of the British and Irish Quidditch League. It was not anywhere near the first time the tornadoes came home with the trophy though. They were founded in 1520 and had been an institution ever since, winning well over 200 championships . Their uniforms were a stark sky blue, with their emblem, of course, a tornado.
It was August 7th and Cora had been training with the team for just about a month. She was still feeling a little unsure of her place, using every opportunity to prove herself to the already well established veterans. She was the only newbie on the team, and she was quite aware of that fact. But her teammates were doing their best to help her adjust.
The starting team consisted of Alys Gower, she was a chaser, and the captain of the team. She attended Hogwarts and was a Ravenclaw in her time. Cora wasn't actually sure how old she was, but she had to have been at least in her early thirties, as she had a young son, who would stay at the stadium with his father during training.
Carys Bethel and Marie Quincy, keeper and seeker respectively, were the other two players that attended Hogwarts. Carys was turning thirty in September, but Marie had only graduated the year before Cora's first, making her twenty four. They were both Gryffindors, and boy could you tell.
The two beaters, Hannah and Harlow Yeil were imports from America, they had played professionally there for two years before being signed for the tornadoes. They were the only players that had made it to the international team for their respective country. Cora liked them the most, despite their grating accents, she thought it was most likely because the duo reminded her of Fred and George. Not just because they were twins - they were actually fraternal, but because of their particular air of whimsy.
