"Right foot, left - that was my foot. For the fifth time." Fred Weasley smiled sheepishly at Cora Holloway. She just sighed, sitting on the closest desk in the empty classroom. Time had flown past quickly and classes had officially ended for the Christmas 'holidays'. In preparation for the upcoming ball Cora had stolen Fred away to practice his dancing.

She knew he was going to be pretty hopeless, but he had really exceeded her expectations. Despite being a natural at quidditch and sneaking around after curfew, his gracefulness was quite lacking. It seemed his lanky body couldn't keep up with itself. Moving in all the directions it shouldn't. The height difference between them not helping one bit.

In any normal situation Cora would just leave him and his bad dancing alone. However the day before McGonagall had decided she should inform her that the first dance was reserved for the grand entrance of the champions. Just as she was warming up to the idea that maybe she could win and maybe she didn't hate it so much, they threw a dance at her.

"You just need to let go, for the first time in your life, you seem to be concentrating." A dramatic look of shock covered his face as she giggled. "Seriously, let the music fill you. The feet and moves will follow. Trust me."

With that she pulled him close and placed her hands lightly on his shoulder and in his hands. She waited a moment for him to start leading. His movements were jerky but Cora didn't mind, gliding with him. His footing was sure, a little off, but it was in the right direction.

She smiled brightly up at him. "Look at you! Not that hard right?" A throaty laugh escaped his throat as he shook his head disbelief.

"Helps when I don't have you yelling at me." She knew he was joking but she still hit his shoulder lightly and opened her mouth scoffing in hurt.

But she didn't move away and continued to dance around the classroom.

"I'm just trying to help you not embarrass yourself in front of everyone!"

"I embarrass myself everyday sweetheart. I think this is mostly for your sake." The words were not meant to hurt her. She knew that. But they rung truth. She couldn't help but still think about reputations and presentation. It was something that had been ingrained in her since childhood. It wasn't something that could be removed in a few months, it was deep rooted.
