Hi!

I signed excitedly to Missy. We had so much to talk about, like the fire at school and what we were going to buy at the mall. We acted stupid when we were around each other, even if we couldn't talk to each other. She pulled out her wallet and showed me that she had 50 bucks! Great! She finally saved up for those new shoes that she's been telling me about for about five months. I looked up to the front seat. It stunk that we couldn't ask her mom anything in the car. We couldn't tell her if me wanted to stop anywhere. That was one of the reasons I was taking speech therapy. So I could actually talk to people when I can't see their hands, or read their lips. I felt a tap on my shoulder, knocking me out of my thoughts and bringing me back to reality.

You okay?

Missy asked. Her face looked concerned.

I'm fine, just distracted.

I said with a smile. Missy smiled back. She rubbed her hand through her long blonde hair. I was always jealous of her hair. My hair was brown. I know if I was in a regular school, people would call me the mute Hermione Granger. And I'm glad that didn't happen.

Are you excited?!

She asked me animatedly. I nodded quickly. I told her I hadn't been to the mall in forever in one of my texts to her.

I'm so excited-

Missy started, but she wasn't able to continue signing when a truck  slammed into the side of our car.
