Wilbur POV

"You understand why you have to do this?" the commander asks him.

"Yes... I do," Wilbur whispers.

He imagines holding the gun to Quackity's hand, pressing a hand to his mouth so he can't scream. His body shudders at the thought of pulling the trigger, watching the light leave Quackity's eyes.

I can't do this.

"Is there any other way?" he asks the commander softly. "This isn't fair... I've grown to care for him, why do I have to do this?"

"It's your final test, to prove your worth in hunting down the ones who killed your parents." the commander explains.

"That doesn't make it fair," Wilbur straightens up, feeling defiant. "I can't do this, it isn't right."

"It is right." the commander replies, not fazed. "He was always a liability, you know this."

"I... you said he could prove his trust," Wilbur searches for any reason to keep this from happening.

"And all he has proven is disloyalty. If you really wanted him to live, you wouldn't have made the mistake of bringing him here. He may be the thing that destroys this agency," she starts to pace, she only does that when she's very agitated.

"Wha... what do you mean?" Wilbur stammers in shock. "It can't be that deep."

"We have gotten lots of information about his original agency from observing him. His agency is directly affiliated with the mafia." the commander reveals.

"Oh fu... does that mean..." he starts to think of the implications.

"Quackity is feeding information about us to them." the commander tells him. "He also purposefully let the tracker on his gun go unnoticed so that you could be tracked and killed."

"So that's why he got so defensive when I asked if he was manipulating me," Wilbur murmurs.
But something just doesn't feel right about all this. He doesn't know who to believe.

"Wilbur... I trust you to get rid of him for me," the commander murmurs. "It's for the best, you can't even be sure that he feels the same way about you."

"Right..." Wilbur whispers.
Quackity can't have done this, there's no way he would... but is there? He decides to question him when he gets back to their room.

"I'm very sorry for making you do this, but it is needed," the commander murmurs. "There is no other easy way to get rid of him. I can't pull him away to execute him because he will put up a fight and cause unrest on the whole agency. He doesn't think you will kill him, it's the easiest way."

"Right..." Wilbur is still hesitant.

"Quackity wants you dead, Wilbur. He wants all of us dead," she murmurs.

Quackity POV

"Hey Q... do you want me dead?" Wilbur asks quietly.

"What?" the shorter assassin immediately looks up in shock. "No, of course not!"
He studies Wilbur's expression, he had been told something.
"Is the commander telling you lies again?" he asks.

Wilbur hesitates. "I don't know who is lying anymore..."

"I could have killed you so many times," Quackity whispers. "But I never did. Wilbur I've kissed you, I am in love with you."
He waits for Wilbur to say something back, anything at all.
